Hey, I liked Ginyu Transformation.

Though with this German dub, heard rumor that they took out all the Dictator scenes out of movie 12. Is that true?
I'm not German, but yes that's true the Dictator is cut from movie 12 because he looks too much like Hitler. In fact this is true for all European versions of Movie 12 except for the Italian dub.

Wow that must have shortened the movie by like 10 minutes. You would think they'd just edit his appearance.

The Germans re-scored movie 13, right? As in, they re-recorded the soundtrack - not even original music, in most cases, if I recall. If they release this I'd be interested in watching it all the way through, never managed to...
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Wouldn't be first time heard of something like this. Way I heard it, not only did they edit the violence in Die Hard 1, but they changed it so the terrorists weren't German anymore. Maybe they didn't want to see themselves as bad guys.

That is understandable to say the least.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

You have to thank the Frenchmen.
All material the German companies got from AB Groupe. As mentioned before, they also cut the Hitler scenes in movie 12. Besides movie 12 and 13 were a double feature in German cinemas (called "Dragon Ball Z: Der Film).

About Die Hard 1:
Yep, that's true. If I remember correctly all terrorists have different nationalities in the German dub (which is actually pretty damn good, except this change).
By the way, the didn't change this in Die Hard with a Vengeance.

Yeah, it explains everything. While reading it, I was thinking "cutting Hitler? changing music? sounds familiar!".

So yeah, if the German is based on the French material, movie 12 and 13 were put together as "the movie", and the soundtrack of movie 12 was actually composed of music from the movie 13 so that there would be more unity between the two movies, giving more of a feeling that they're actually one, and also because it was judged that movie 13's music quality was higher and worthy of a cinema quality anime.

The recent uncensored DVD release somehow managed to have a track with the original French dub BUT the original Japanese music (though censored scenes which were not present will suddenly switch to subtitled Japanese).

Also, at the time, movie 13 was censored as well. Tapion's biggest pain/fear screams were not shown when his face was judged too deformed by pain/fear, therefore too scary to the audience. So for example, when Hildegarn's upper half is released to form his complete self near the end, you directly see the fade-in to Tapion having an empty look and falling and the blue and red rays going to the sky to form a circle, you don't see tapion screaming and "liquefying" in surreal colors. Nor do you see him scream when the giant magic box built by Bulma breaks. And Hildegarn absorbing people was not shown either.

No, the music re-recording was ONLY on the german dub. Other european dubs, while still having the Hitler scenes chopped off and having both movies put together as "DBZ - The Movie", still have all the original music intact. The German dub is the only dub to have movie 13's score re-recorded (though it's the same songs, they just recorded them themselves for whatever reason) and applied to movie 12 (in a really, REALLY unfitting way, too. Tapion's music box song while in the middle of fighting Janemba? Do not want.

I promise you, I got my old video tape of "the movie" right here: when Goku falls to hell, followed by Janemba, the music is the one of Tapion's music box. Or in the final scene with Goten, Gohan, Trunks and Videl, the music is the sweet Tapion theme heard when Hildegarn's lower half disappeared after encountering Gohan and Videl and when Gohan sees Tapion and the old man on the roof. The music listened by the boy who later becomes Janemba is the instrumental opening. The music for the other world tournament at the beginning is the music of the Dragon Ball search of the Tapion movie... Well, anyway, that "movie pack" did have exclusively music from the Tapion movie, for both movies 12 and 13. No music was reproduced in the French version though, they were the original tracks.

Huh, interesting... that didn't carry over to Portugal, even though we got "The Movie" too; we had the original score for movie 12.

You are wrong. Here in Spain, the soundtrack from movie 12 was composed from tracks of movie 13 and previous movies (There's no need to say the Hitler scenes were removed, too). The original material came from France, because the credits were all in French.

Anybody know the cost on these yet? I'd be tempted if we weren't getting DBox and DB seasons in the near future.

Well no, he's obviously a joke on Hitler, but he's only ever called "the dictator" and he has X signs on his uniform rather than swastikas (apparently he's Adenoid Hynkel). And of course DragonBall isn't set in anything remotely resembling the real world. It's like how movie 12 has a vampire who looks like Dracula, but isn't actually Dracula.

We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

There is a rumor, that the first box will be cost 72,95€ ...

Oh and I don't like the cover. Somehow it looks cheap.
