Trying to find a map...

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Trying to find a map...

Post by Amigo Ten » Thu Aug 06, 2009 11:12 am

I remember seeing a map of the DB universe at point and I'm trying to find it again. The one with everything in a big sphere, and the demon realm right down at the bottom, and I think it had the Kaioshin planet orbiting around outside the whole thing. Anyone know what I'm on about?

Cool, thanks. Wasn't there one that had a cross section though? I'm sure I remember one that showed the demon realm down at the bottom and such. May just be a false memory though.

There is a fan-made one like that. Made by DesireCampbell, I think.

Fan-made huh? Wasn't aware of that. Cheers for the info.

Is this the (fan) one you were thinking of?

Interesting to note, as Herms as pointed out before, is that the entire Kaioshin realm is what is orbiting the 'cosmos', completely separate, and containing the Kaioshin planet and the suns that surround it. I wonder if it's separateness is why Goku and Vegeta were allowed to go there while dead, and why when you die there apparently you don't go to the afterlife in the cosmos (although the only person we saw die there was Rou Kaioshin, and he also went to Namek while dead, so maybe the rules don't apply to him).

I've never seen that colour map, but it's nice. I'm not sure if the one I'm thinking of actually exists. I may have just made it up in my head based on other pictures without realizing. It looked like the first one posted, but I remember it showing the Kaioshin realm in orbit, and it having a cross section of the universe portion rather it being covered, and it shwoing the demon realm too.

The weird thing is, I can't remember seeing one like that, but it sounds ever so vaguely familiar nonetheless.

I still can't figure out why the mortal universe is vast when comaring to afterlife with only a few million kilos wide. Perhaps a mistake on Toriyama's part (once again). I will just imagine that the afterlife's distance is trillions times trillions kilos.

(Then again, it has to be this short for Goku to be able to make it to Kaio's planet in a few months since Saiyans were going to arrive within a year as Raditz pointed out. perhaps Toriyama should have made it 2 1/2 years longer?

I doubt it's supposed to be to scale. It's just an illustration to show the structure.

Toriyama probably didn't look ahead to think that a bunch of nerds in their 20s on the other side of the world would be analyzing that map super hardcore like that 20 years later. That's probably why it seems so small.

That's what I always assumed. I consider(ed) the entire ball to be a metaphysical representation, rather than something that's actually floating there. But Herms thinks it's more literal. Eh, not a big issue in the grand scheme of things.

I wanted to think I saw something like this back in the day. Maybe on the unrivaled source?

You mean on 'Unrivaled Info'
It's been renamed to 'Boxpit' and isn't working for me.
but yes, it had a colored map that looked like the original.

The link to the where the map would be is here: /www.unrivaled.info/anime/dragonball/uni ... verse3.htm

and, the latest archive.org is here: http://web.archive.org/web/200704191825 ... verse3.htm
