Haha, same story here. XD I remember back around 2003, stores here had imported American releases. So if you wanted to watch DBZ, you'd have to know your english (no dutch subtitles or dub).Rory wrote:Damnit we got neglected by Dragonball. They show it us on TV.. to make us IMPORT our goods. Yet they still release the video games!!
Bloody cock tease, I'm tellin' ya.
What countries had a home release?
Well, maybe. Its not an internal release but if someone really wanted the portuguese dub, all he had to do was buy that release.SonGokuGT wrote:The original Dragonball's release in Spain had a Portuguese track. Does that count?rereboy wrote:Portugal had the Portuguese Dub but no home release of the anime, I think. All that was released were the movies with the Portuguese Dub. Those were released.

The UK also got a manga release.Hujio wrote:Well that depends, what releases are we talking about: manga or anime? Though I assume you're talking about the anime.
DragonBall manga:
- Japan
- Thailand
- Korea
- Hong Kong
- Taiwan
- United States
- Mexico
- Brazil
- Spain
- Poland
- Italy
- Sweden
- Germany
- France
- Denmark
- Norway (added by sangofe)
German (or was that one translated from French?). It has absolutely nothing to do with any English translation of the series.sangofe wrote:and manga you should add Norway (even though these were re-re-re-re-translated versions from the English manga).

I updated my initial post with countries people have mentioned. I also added Portugal, which I had initially forgotten about, and some nice little flags to make things more colorful.

While it is true, it's basicly a copy Viz's adaptaion with lower quality. And it's published by Gollancz Manga from Orion Books.danny.rob wrote: The UK also got a manga release.

The manga?
Hong Kong version of the manga was published by Culturecom. (My dad's friend works there. I used to get tankoubon's from them for free! It was awesome back in the day.)
Taiwanese version was published by Tong Li Comics. While it's also in Chinese, there are some differences in translation.
I know there is a Taiwanese release of the anime and I have seen some of the movies released on laserdisc. I'm not too sure about the series itself.
There is also a DVD release of the series in Hong Kong containing the Cantonese dub originally broadcasted on TVB.

Yeah, and I'm pretty darn sure I read that the German version was translated from English, not French.Adamant wrote:German (or was that one translated from French?). Carlsen Comics were always proud of it, that their German version was translated from the Japanese version.
Of course, it didn't help a lot. The translation is pretty bad anyway.
Re:
Actually here in Greece, Dragonball GT has finished being released and DBZ is finishing too. Also for the first time here, the movies will start being released from August 31th with a new release every two weeks and after finishing the movies they will release the first series too, so we get the complete set.sangofe wrote:Now I know another country to add; Greece, they've gotten DBZ and DBGT releases on DVD, I think (might've gotten DB, but not so sure about that). The releases have very bad video, and audio quality, and are censored with dub only.
