Would ANYONE be interested in the VHS?

Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

What's the box look like on that one? The edited Freeza pic is different for the spines, but I was wondering, are the boxes the same? For the edited, one side has Freeza, the other side has SS Goku, and the back has Goku (regular) and Freeza standing back to back.

They're both discs. Which are entirely different in terms of their composition. And the codecs used. And the type of laser used to read them. And nearly every other aspect.

But yes, they're both discs. You've got me there...I guess...?

Besides, your original post was that 'VCR' was getting old too fast, which I took to mean VHS (since 'VCR' just means 'video cassette recorder'), which was the dominant format for about 16 years before DVD even hit the market. These days, formats change a lot quicker (BD hit the market about 10 years after DVD was introduced, and while it doesn't hold the majority share yet it inevitably will as time passes). So, I was merely disagreeing with your original post.

yeah the box is the same, atleast for this one; with yellow 'smoke/dust' and the green background.

EDIT: If not for all those dvds sittin on TOP of the VHS, I would have taken a video of all the box casings as well but it was right after I had gotten everything set up like I wanted.

EDIT EDITTED: If anyone wanted to SWAP me for the first 2 DB sagas, Id be all over there [Tournament and Red Ribbon Army....or either of those and the King Piccolo Saga part 2]

I guess I'm a bit late to the game, but I would LOVE these. In my opinion, VHS is an underappriciated medium, and was never utilised to it's fullest potential as far as anime is concerenec. Why did we never see bilingual VHS tapes? The SAP audio track is there, closed captioning is there. It would work.

VHS is still the best way to record television for archival purposes. DVR works almost as well, but it's strictly temporary. I mostly use mine so I can tape things later. DVD recorders still don't work properly half the time, and they aren't nearly as simple to use. You have to worry about buffer underruns, bad discs, scratches, etc. etc.

So yeah, it's old. But it's still as useful as it ever was. Anime works better on DVD, no question, but I'll always have a place for my tapes.

BTW, if no one's made an offer yet, I'll give you $40. That includes shipping. I simply can't afford more than that.

Well, you have the Terebiko tapes that rock ass for instance. The interaction system between the tapes and the phone thingy was really cool, and way before DVD or whatever.

Actually, while I was in Japan, I purchased a couple of VHS K7's and let me tell you, they were worth every penny!

One of them was the Toriyama work "Pink". Don't even think that one exists in digital format...

You know, when I read this I thought "I'm never gonna buy any of these old VHS's", but when I think about it, I'd pick up the original Japanese VHS releases of the movies in a heartbeat...

I never realized this until SSJRambo started a new thread about Taikestu. Is it me or does VHS tend to lose the picture detail when compare to DVD?

You must be imagining things. VHS has more resolution than DVD and BD combined.

I don't know how much your looking at getting for these tapes, but if $1 per tape is acceptable, you could always try a yard sale. I was able to get a buck each for my tapes last fall, and they were all edited.

I was thinking about less than $1 a piece, since i want to sell them as one sale, instead of people picking and choosing the ones they want.

I doubt someone around here would want to spend 95 dollars at a yard sale you know?

I love VHS's. I don't know why, but I love them. I don't want DBZ on VHS, because to my knowladge, they didn't release the series in japanese w/ english subs. But I still like VHS's.

The first three movies have sub releases. I have no idea if they're still around or not, but they were released that way.

Lemme chim in my two cents here... First off, your first post was off topic, and secondly, tottaly irrelevant and unesscary of a comment. Why did you ever post it? Back to topic -- and good luck selling these, LeprikanGT.
