My favorite originally was Vegeta, but as I grew older and started to read the manga I really liked Goku. But, as of late, I am leaning towards Gohan simply because he's just like me in personality. :lol:

You have won my respect and many, many internets with that statement.
I can't believe nobody mentioned him up till now. Trying to take a Saiyajin on with just a shotgun took balls.
You mean a Saiyajin taking on The Farmer with a Shotgun took balls.
And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.

Piccolo Daimaou, the younger. Has been since 1999 and I don't see that ever changing.

There's a lot of things I love about the man that I could go on about for a few pages just to start, but I'll try to keep it brief:

The first thing that drew me to him was the voice. I had been (and still am) a massive Beast Wars fan before ever hearing of Dragonball and my favorite character was this very stoic, silent, honor-bound and very tall fellow named Dinobot. Long story short, he's awesome. And when I first heard Piccolo speak in that low rumble... something about him reminded me of Dinobot, and that instantly made me infer certain things about him and made me like him instantly. I later found out that the same man voiced both of them, but at the time I had no idea of this awesome little fact.

His whole story fascinates me, with the dying world and the Child of Kattatsu sent off into the void, only to grow up lost in Yunzabit and twisted by the reality around him- the whole strive to become God to watch over people he loathed, the massive possibilities for the war with Garlic Sr. and the early days of Daimaou's split and reign of terror, the guild deep in Kami-sama, the revival of such a magnificently wicked (and handsome) fellow throwing the world into chaos again and.... and there’s all of this pathos and drama and Piccolo himself hasn't even been born yet. I'll cut the history lesson here because we all know the rest of it, and I'm beginning to ramble ^^;

Then there's the man himself. He's so damn quiet and severe, absolutely serious and I have to use the word fascinating again. He's always drawn me in and made me curious long before I fell in love with the guy. Part of it is my introduction to the series- long story short, second thing I ever saw was the three young warriors trying to defend Muuri and the children and it's stuck hard on me. And part of it is Gohan. He's such a sweet little boy as a kid, I liked him, and through all that early training for the Sayiajin you learn to know the guy as Gohan does. I have a very deep soft spot for that relationship and the changes it brought out in Pic that made him so much more complicated as a person.

I'm trying to keep this short aren't I... He's a freaking genius in the middle of a battle- except when he's basically a hatchling and right after fusing with Neru (and getting a huuuge ego boost/righteous anger surge from Neru's memories of his brothers compounded by touching back down on his ancestral homeland for the first time in centuries) he thinks through every action and plans ahead of the others who usually just barge in headfirst guns-a-blazing. He's a tactical genius. And he's gorgeous. And I love his whole character arc and it's time for me to cut things short before I take another six paragraphs talking about him ^^;

Piccolo, followed by Gohan, followed by Yamcha. My favorite characters in my favorite show ever.

Kid Goku: His ignorance and nature as a chil were endearing and fun as opposed to annoying and stupid as an adult (IMO)
Future Trunks: What can I say? I loved his voice, personality, look...everything about him. He shows up and annihilates the biggest evil up tot his point and doing it all while looking smexy.

For villains...
Cell: I may be in the minority but I don't like Freeza at all. Cell was the greatest Z main villain in my opinion. This is because he didn't start off as all-powerful. He had to use strategy and manipulation to gain ultimate power. His voice was perfect in all forms and I loved the horror monster-esque vibe around his introduction.
