Worlds Strongest in same timeline as main series?
Recently I was watching Dragon Ball Z Worlds Strongest. I don't know if it's just the Ocean Dub that put it in or if it's in all versions of the movie but it showed when Piccolo sacrificed himself for Gohan in the Saiyan Saga which started to make me think that somewhere along the lines the movie might just be in the same timeline as the main series. So is it or is it not? I tried to fit it in with the timeline but couldn't really find where it would fit so I think it might not be. What do you guys think?

All of the Z movies reference things from the show to some extent, but almost always are unable to fit into the continuity of the main series. Movie 2 is no different.

Goku knows the Kaio-Ken, but is not fighting Vegeta, bedridden after fighting Vegeta, or on his way to Namek expecting to fight Vegeta again.
Insta-kill for the notion of fitting into the series, right there.

I suppose if you really wanted to make it fit, you could say that it takes place during the three years of training for the androids, and Goku just didn't feel like using Super Saiyan. But of course, the movie itself was made long before that point in the series.

Well at first I was kind of going with that idea but he would be wearing his Frieza saga gi and wouldn't use Spirit Bomb the way he did.Herms wrote:I suppose if you really wanted to make it fit, you could say that it takes place during the three years of training for the androids, and Goku just didn't feel like using Super Saiyan. I always found that hilarious. Gohan loves Piccolo because he remembers the time he valiantly sacrificed his life for him... Except, Piccolo's still alive. Just because.Vegeta1056 wrote:it showed when Piccolo sacrificed himself for Gohan in the Saiyan Saga

But then why would Gohan be remembering the scene where Piccolo died?omegacwa wrote:So Movie Two would take place in an alternate timeline where Goku made it back before Piccolo was killed, and then Piccolo and Goku fought and Defeated Nappa and Vegeta.

The movies seem to be set at "the heroes win everything without anything significant changing"-verse.
So basically, they went to Namek, but Freeza didn't, and now everyone's home safely.

Hmm, well maybe Nappa's blast didn't kill Piccolo, only severely injured him.Herms wrote:But then why would Gohan be remembering the scene where Piccolo died?omegacwa wrote:So Movie Two would take place in an alternate timeline where Goku made it back before Piccolo was killed, and then Piccolo and Goku fought and Defeated Nappa and Vegeta.
