Agreed.
I really like that Kai music. "The Braveheart Challenges The Strong" is one my favorites.

The orchestrated (spell?) version of Dragon Soul has such an triumphant feel to it, it's really quite well done.

I'm glad to see Dragon Soul ~Orchestra Ver.~ is getting proper appreciation. I've been in a secret love affair with that theme ever since the first episode, where it plays during the "Goku's Childhood" scene.
BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.

My particular favorites on this CD are the Dragon Soul orchestrated version and Track 30. Really nice songs!

Glad to see all the love for the Orchestrated Dragon Soul. That's without a doubt my favorite track in all of Kai so far. It's the one track that has a real DragonBall feel to it. I know Kai is meant to modernize the series so Kai is given a modern Shonen sound. But it's nice to hear something that sounds more classic in there too.

Are there any other songs that you unexpectedly liked or any songs that you just skip over? I unexpectedly liked "Win Tough Fight! (guitar ver.)" (track 18) and would like to hear the actual version of the song with lyrics. I skip over "Over the Star (piano ver.)" (track 19) and "Requiem" (track 29) pretty often. They're well-done songs but I don't often like to listen to sad music.

Wow! Nice track list! Lessee...

1) Dragon Soul
2) Yeah! Break! Care! Break!
3) Muteki Aura No Energy <---- (great song!)
4) Over the Star
5) Win! Tough! Fight!
6) The Ginyu Force Theme
7) Dende's Theme
8) Krillin's Theme
9) The Super Saiyan Theme
10) Freeza's Theme
11) Vegeta's Theme

It comes out the same month as the first Kai Blu-Ray Box, though, so I'm not sure how well I'll be able to afford it right away. Maybe in November or December I can grab it.

I didn't expect to like much on this soundtrack, because most of the music I hear in Dragon Ball Kai makes my head spin with how bad it is.

However, I did end up liking a few tracks after all.

Tracks I liked:

- Preminition of a Great Battle
- Destiny
- Dragon Soul ~ Orchestral (I like this better than the actual song)
- Win Tough Fight! Guitar Version (when was this even in the show?)
- Over the Star (Piano) (when was this even in the show?)
- The Curtain Rises on the Battle
- Anxiety and Unease
- A Moment For Shuddering
- Requiem ~ For Those Who Meet Their End
- Dragon Ball Kai ~ Next Episode Preview

It's no Kikuchi score, but there are some decent bits here and there.

This was in the show as a full song with lyrics (the piano version replacing the vocals with piano notes). When? When they went to find the dead bodies of the victims of the Saiyan invasion. Makes the moment worth it.

I guess we'll hear some of them soon. Win Tough Fight is an insert song I guess, so it would be for a really special moment. But I don't see any particular moment any time soon. The Super Saiyan is quite far, but it's a possibility... Maybe just when Goku shows up on Namek with his incredible strength, though I don't know if there's any particular scene it could be placed in. I guess we'll know in due time what this song is meant for.

I've been seriously delaying my opionion on the OST.

I love it!

I'm so happy that Kenji Yamamoto's music was done like this. I've never liked Kikuchi's score for DBZ, so having an alternate Japanese score for me is great. It's not Faulconer, but honestly, I don't need it to be. It's just awesome.

I can't wait for Vol. 2! =D

Oh, so that was the song. I was pretty impressed that there was a new insert song, but I guess I failed to recognize the instrumental version.

I want the vocal version.

Pretty cool OST, I don't remember hearing "Win a tough fight" in the series though, or maybe I'm wrong?

Don't be so quick to say that! It took a long time for me to appreciate the Kai score (and I'm still really apprehensive about it, scared that Toei's reasoning behind it all was that they see the older score as dated, and therefore no longer profitable), but it's finally starting to grow on me. Let me explain why.

There are moments, I will concede, where the Kai music seems not to fit at all. When I first watched the first episode, I thought the slow, menacing theme of "Desperate Situation" underscoring Gohan's first scene, where he's rescued from the river by Goku, didn't quite measure up to Z's driving score in the same scene. And although I've since grown to appreciate "Desperate Situation," I still think it's a tad lackluster. Another scene which seems to have been mauled music-wise is Piccolo's death.

However, there are compositions in Kai which fit their respective scenes like a glove. In episode 21, for example, when Freeza threatens to kill Dende and Cargot, the elder freaks out and Freeza silently raises his hand in slow motion. This shot is accompanied by a theme which plays out in such a way that, just as Freeza is raising his hand (the most tense part of the scene), the music becomes edgier, and you sit there holding your breath. I didn't even notice this piece of music, which upon closer inspection had been around for a while, until I saw this scene.
And then there's the fantastic piece that plays in episode 13, just after Vegeta kills Nappa. Goku tells Kuririn and Gohan to return to the Kame House, they say their farewells, and Vegeta is anxious for the fight to get underway. The music here segues from a hollow trumpet solo to the string section, and then a haunting piano piece as Kuririn indicates he has a plan to revive their dead friends, and culminates in a statement of anxiety as Goku tells Vegeta he wants to do battle somewhere else.
It's an amazing composition, nearly three minutes long, and in my opinion is epic enough to be heard in a movie. When you watch this, you can't help but wonder if the music was composed specifically for that scene, because it fits so well (although it shows up again later in episode 21, when Freeza explains to Muri that he knows about the seven elders of Namek and how they protect the DragonBalls individually).

Unfortunately, neither of these pieces seem to be on the recent OST, so I'm just crossing my fingers for their inclusion on Volume 2!

My problem is that, like with the Faulconer or Saban tracks, DB Kai just doesn't have the epic battle music the original Kikuchi score brought to the table. I'm talking about stuff like "Kaibutsu Freeza vs Densetsu no Super Saiya-jin" or "Ma ni ae!! Nanatsu no Dragon Ball", which are epic. But as I said, there were a few good tracks in this version I enjoyed.

I am disappointed in the exclusion of one piece, though. The music that plays when Goku leaves Kaio's planet is probably my favorite BGM in Kai thus far and wasn't on the first OST.
