Well... it's different to RightStuf's description, but the same message nonetheless.

Even as one tiny piece of info comes out, I get even giddier, I wish the hype could pass me.

What the hell? I don't understand this! I don't see it saying anywhere that the Dragon Box's power level is over 9,000! Those sons of...

Anyway, I got it for $55, free shipping and handling. I got the Dragon Ball Season Set 1 and 2 like that as well for $35, free shipping and handling. They actually shipped Season 1 early and I got it the day it came out. So I saved a nice piece of money altogether. If I get the Dragon Box the delivered to me the day it comes out and I got it for $55 and not $80 (or $90 as Best Buy have it for on their website), I think it's a pretty good deal.

No. What's being said is that this rare thing from Japan will become widely available to us in the US.

Its already having a FAR 'less rare' release than in Japan. Over there you had to order it and THEN they made them, and afterwards did not make anymore.

Honestly, whether or not the Dragonboxes are rare in Japan, depends on your definition of "rare".

If you take it to mean "they are hard to get ahold of", then no, they're not particularly "rare". If you have the money, you can easily get whatever Dragonbox you want, and the amount of money needed for one is less than the original asking price too.

This is the site I've been buying Anime off the most for the past few years, and it's finally got the Dragon Box up, but with almost no information.

I've sometimes gotten stuff from them nice and early too.

In the conventional sense of "There really aren't that many" they are rare.

Let me rephrase my post:

"Excuse me, I am much too lazy to find out what that is in American Dollars, so I want YOU to look it up for me. If it's not too much trouble."

But...you did do that, in a sense. So thanks.

EDIT: Actually...you just searched it for me. You didn't find the answer. And I refuse to go through 21,800,000 results.

(And thank you, Time Traveller!)

Well I reported the page missing about a week ago, they might have only just added it, and they also added a bunch of preorders in the anime section past Nov 3, which is what it's been stuck on for a while.

I remember looking at that site a while back, but I've never actually used it. Well with the Dragon Box being at £32.89 + £4.95 P&P, I'll definitely be using that site for the next Dragon Box! Also the delivery times to the UK are 4-7 business days, that’s awesome.

It's so beautifully written it made me want to buy two of them.

The conventional sense of "rare" is that there's not many of the item, they are relatively tough to get ahold of, and if you do find them, expect to pay premium price. For the Dragonboxes, only the first holds true.

For Joe Average, a rare item is not one you can go online and find 20 copies of in 5 seconds, all being sold for less than retail price. As I said, it depends on the definition of rare, but the average person would not consider the Dragonboxes rare unless misinformed about their availability (which, granted, he probably is).

Wow, they hammered it home that this product is the end-all, be-all release.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

To a lot of Americans, having to go on a Japanese-only website to find them, finding a seller willing to ship internationally, and then having to pay Japanese DVD prices severely cuts down on the number of options you have. Even at used prices, the Dragon Boxes are still being sold for a decent chunk of change.

Why are we even arguing the context of "rare" anyway? Is the fact that they're less rare than unicorn poop really make them not rare at all?

EDIT: On a completely different note, I like how it's stated in the description that this release is essential for "Dragon Ball Z purists" as opposed to the "hardcore fan" term we heard at Otakon. It really clears up the confusion that started so many arguments.
