At least, like "Hercule", they mention his original name in the character biography section.
....

What the god damn bloody hell shit fuck monkey WHAT?

WHY?

EDIT: I sincerely apologize for the... weird cursing, but this makes absolutely no sense and does nothing but piss me off.

Dunno!

Character bio-

Romanization of the Katakana-Pegasasu jei kurofoodo
Maximillion J. Pegasus
At least it says "In the original Japanese manga he's called 'Pegasus J. Crawford'" like it says for Mr. Satan.

<_<

But they didn't change Mai Kujaku, Ryuzaki, or Haga.
If I saw Mai Valentine, I would be like "Ok, I'm not buying these... <_<"

God damn it...

Edit: Is Yu-Gi-OH! Duelist take place right after Yu-Gi-OH! vol. 7?

Yes, Yugioh! Duelist volume 1 would be Yugioh! volume 8 in Japanese.
VIZ is making sagas, apparently.

Yugioh!
Yugioh! Duelist
Battle City will most likely be something like Yugioh! Battle City
Yugioh! Millennium World is the Egyptian arc

Actually, the credits/copyright page states that "The English Yu-Gi-Oh!: Duelist was originally volumes 8-31 of the Japanese Yu-Gi-Oh!." So both the Duelist and Battle City arcs will be printed under the "Yugioh Duelist" title (unless Viz change ther minds, of course).

As for Pegasus; while I'd prefer that they use the original name, I don't find the name change to be surprising, given that they've already used Zolo and H-ercules. They've kept in the names of other characters, so I'm hoping this naming business won't get too bad. :?

At least for DBZ, we don't have to worry about any other possible name changes, aside from Kaioshin, perhaps.

The thing that annoys me is that, well, Peggy's name is American to begin with, so unless there's something offensive about "Crawford"....

I said it before and I'll say it again - they kept the original names for the Shaman King characters (at least they did in books 1 - 4. I haven't seen anything that takes place after the start of the Yoh/Horahora battle) so why can't they do the same again and just state on the bio page that they're using the Japanese names rather than the dub names. I buy the mangas to have as close to the Japanese version as possible. Changing names ruins that aspect of the mangas for me.

The Shonen Jump logo is printed on some of the Dragonball/Z/GT DVDs (I don't have any Yugioh or Shaman King DVDs, so I wouldn't know if the same is true of them), so I would guess that Viz has a marketing agreement with Funimation and 4kids to use at least some dub names in those series (which could explain H-ercules and "Maximillion" Pegasus).

I never got why Viz would skip a whole large chunk of the YuGiMon manga. To keep up with the anime? Is it even still on?
And, ugh, I also noticed when I saw an episode of the Shaman King show on Fox that its logo said "Shonen Jump's Shaman King." So probably Viz and FUNi have some sort of agreement.

Err... even though Sean Schemmel is the voice of Amidamaru in the dub, it's still a 4Kids property. While you're probably right, you're thinking of the wrong series (the correct answers would be DB and YYH). :)

I think they skipped the huge chunk of Yu-Gi-Oh so they could make more money off the graphic novels. Cheap guys or those with SJ subscriptions probably won't have anyreason to buy the gns unless they're really hardcore collectors. As for the "Shonen Jump" logo on Shaman King. That's been there since the show premiered in this country.

I also think they're trying to "get to the good stuff" while the Yu-Gi-Oh! show is still popular in America. I know there's some people who view the entire franchise as a fad that's nearing its end.

That's how I see YuGiOh...that's why I used my hard intellectual thinking and cleverly called it YuGiMon. Harharhar.

But I do have a subscription to the US Shonen Jump magazine, and whenever I need to pass the time I end up reading YuGiOh. I was a little surprised when the story shifted so drastically, and I didn't even know what was going on.
