Wow... That is by far the laziest thing Dragon Ball related I have ever seen...

Yes, I had already noticed that.

One good news is that the official Viz website has the DBZ Vizbig nº 6 cover available but not the DBZ Vizbig nº 5 cover.

http://www.viz.com/products/products.ph ... ct_id=7418
http://www.viz.com/products/products.ph ... ct_id=7419

So hopefully that nº 5 cover got changed. Which would make sense because the cover clearly shows dead SSJ Goku, which clearly doesn`t fit with the 3 volumes of the manga that nº 5 contains.

I'm not even going to get worked up.

It's a North American Dragon Ball release. Stupid things are bound to happen.

But god damn, re-using the exact same art for two volumes in the same line of releases?

Can someone go to a store and actually confirm that this isn't a mistake, or is Vol. 7 not out yet?

Neither 5 or 7 are out yet.

5 is due in October and 7 is due next year.

Then I highly doubt this will come to pass.

One of them is undoubtedly a placeholder. Which one, we probably won't know until they're released.

I have to agree with Kaboom, that this surely must be a placeholder image. But if not, then that's just hilarious.

Placeholder seems most likely.

If not...who exactly has been buying the VizBigs for their beautiful cover art anyway?

...A little bit of me really wants that to be the final cover art, but of course that has a made up statistic chance of 98% that it's a placeholder.
I think I'll be buying assorted Dragon Ball things for the rest of my life.

I don't know why everyone's getting worked up. If neither of the volumes are out yet, then it's likely that this isn't the final cover art. Since when have we used Amazon as a confirmation for cover art info anyway? Amazon has used tons of place holder pics for Dragon Ball stuff before(mostly the anime, but still). Honestly, I doubt VIZ is going to be that lazy about it.

Well, if by "everyone's getting worked up" you mean "everyone's already made this same point...

EDIT: If this is considered necro-posting, then I apologize in advance. The rules say that if we're going to bump a thread, we have to have a good reason, and I figured clearing up this mystery was a good enough reason. If the mods disagree, then I apologize and you can close the thread if you'd like. I just figured since this thread never had many posts to begin with, it would be okay to revive.

Volume five of the Z VizBigs is now out in stores, so I thought I'd give this a little mini-bump and clear up a few things.

Okay, first of all, the cover art mystery. Fear not, everyone, for the artwork of volume five that all of the online stores have is fake. Instead, volume five uses this image of Goku for the front cover, so everything's okay. Volume seven's cover will likely be the one posted above. So Viz isn't quite as lazy as we were worried they'd be. I'm still not fond of the cover artwork they're using, but hey, it's what's inside that counts.

So moving on to the inside of the book, there are a few things to note:

1.) Between the three volumes that make up this volume, only two chapters originally had color pages. I'm proud to say that both chapters are printed here in color, even down to the title pages. Pages that should be in fill-color and pages that should be in red-&-grayscale are printed as such. The only other VizBig to keep all of the original color pages was DB volume four, so this is a very pleasant surprise.

Since there aren't that many color chapters left, hopefully Viz will release the remaining ones in color because there are so few of them.

2.) Okay, so now I'm going to mention the edits to the artwork and script. Unfortunately, the middle fingers are still erased in chapter 371/177's funny, funny title page. #16's "Hell Flash" is still changed to "Inferno Blast" as well. I can't recall anymore significant edits to these volumes, but if anyone can remember, just ask and I'll check.

3.) There's actually something new is this VizBig: a "color art gallery." Sure, the other VizBigs threw in one or two color images at the end of the previous volumes, but this time, Viz adds a "color art gallery" title page, gives us seven color images (including the original volume covers), and even gives written descriptions of each image. I checked my English version of the first Daizenshuu and the descriptions aren't the same, so it seems Viz took the facts from the Daizenshuu and used them to type up their own descriptions.

I wish they had done this with the previous nine volumes... but hey, better late than never.

So do all of the VizBIGs contain the original volume covers? And if not, which ones do have them. I know Rurouni Kenshin stopped having them after a while, and I was kind of upset about that.

The only original tankobon cover images that Viz has carried over to the VizBigs so far as extras are Dragon Ball volumes 1, 14, 16, and Dragon Ball Z volumes 13-15 (otherwise known as 29-31).

So really... hardly any at all. I don't really mind because we got all of the supplimental color images in the first Daizenshuu, but the inconsistency is still annoying.
