Keep opinions out of it. There are fair observations and then there are bias observations.
"Constantly talks like a goofy clown" and "Uses same dated slang as other characters" are both bias opinions and could be refuted easily.

Yamcha saying, "That's whack!" is not up for debate. Nobody. Says. That.

Well, it should just be listed as "Uses 80's slang" instead of stating it as an "opinionated fact."
And yes, people do say that... unfortunately... I just recently graduated from High School, and people still said crap like "dat b wack cuz!"

I really felt like Krillin should have said "This is nuts!", "Mondo cool!", and "nerdball" more often, because it makes his character so witty and charming.
Make sure to mention how amazingly hip Krillin is.
Oh, and don't forget, Yamcha also said, "You da man!" and "That bites!"
The narrator once said, "Krillin's in da house!", if I'm not mistaken. So even the narrator is a loser.

Wasn't that during the first attempt the dub had at DBZ though? Like it or not with the dub, it
did get better, even if just a little bit, over time. This will only work if we use the best version of the dub.

In honestly, my friends do still say that.
And SSJ2Bardock has a point, most of that was in the beginning, when they were first dubbing it.

The way I figure it, there had to be a reason for all the stupid corny lines. I mean they couldn't have just possibly said, "screw it, let's make this corny as hell!" There had to have been some politics or whatever to encourage it...right? Right? I sure hope I'm right.

Funimation had around thirty episodes before "Krillin's in the house!" The narrator said this when Krillin came back to life from Namek. Not to mention, I imagine they were the ones that wrote the script for the Ocean cast dub. They had so many years to do a good script, and we got "Krillin's in the house!" and "That's whack!" and a load of other corny one-liners and lame lingo. And music every single moment.
Am I suppose to give Funimation a break?

No but you
could refer to the most current version of the dub. (Not you specifically just in general)
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

Season 3 onwards is still the most current version of the dub. Yes, it is still embarassing to acknowledge.

Yes, considering they completely half-assed the "revised dialogue..."

Meaning... the re-dub of seasons 1 and 2?
It's been a while since I've last seen them, probably not since they aired on Cartoon Network.
When I get the Dragon Box, I plan to give it another go.

Yeah I was talking about the re-dub. I was saying that it would be better to refer to that when looking at the characterizations. I wasn't saying the re-dub is any better or worse. (As far as good/bad dubs go at least)

I actually liked the 'Krillin's in da house!' line, mainly because they were actually showing him respect. 'Krillin, fuck yeah!' is a pretty refreshing sentiment considering that the American fandom's so stuck on those annoying, butt ugly Super Saiyans.

Hey, they're FUNimation. I guess they just liked making the dialogue 'fun.'

Let's not forget that Barry Watson was a huge driving force behind the Americanization of the series and many of the corny changes that happened, along with script-writer Terry Klassen. They were there for a good while, though I know Terry left somewhere around the Garlic Jr. saga, not later than the Android Saga.
Blame those too, among all else, and understand they are no longer with the company.

While we're talking about current dub, I just wanna throw out the "Goku's dad's a brilliant scientist" and "It's okay I see their parachutes" type stuff. That is nowhere near current dialog but it's being recycled as if it hasn't been remedied since.
