What's The Best Fight In The Entire Series?
While it just so happens to be a favorite of mine, Majin Vegeta VS Buu was beautifully choreagraphed in both the manga and anime, and it brought Vegeta's character full-circle, something much needed after what can pretty much only be labeled as "character derailment" in the Cell arc. I also personally think anyone who may not have liked Vegeta to begin with will have a deeper appreciation for him because of what he goes through and(finally!) learns. It's simply... the best.
Other personal favorites would be Goku VS Krillin (22nd), Goku VS Tenshinhan (22nd), Majin Vegeta VS Goku, and Gotenks VS Buu.

Son Goku vs. Piccolo Junior in the 23rd Tenka'ichi Budokai was the best fight of the series in my opinion. The two warriors were equally matched, which always makes for an exciting fight. It was just a back-to-basics, hand-to-hand combat battle using old-school martial arts techniques. None of the constant chi-blasting and explosions that we see in late DBZ, although there were some spectacular chi blasts in the Goku vs. Piccolo fight. I think it deserves the title as one of the best fights (the best IMO) in the series.

My favourite is Goku vs Majin Vegeta. First I had been waiting since Saiyan Saga to see Vegeta fight Goku again. During cell Saga I started thinking it wouldn't happen but the second the "M" appeared on his head I thought "YES! let them fight."
Second move for move it looked the most physical by that I mean as well having the Ki blasts that the Z era had it also had more of physical fight like old dragon ball fights. It was like you could feel the hate in the fight. In piccolo or first vegeta fight even in the frieza fight i didn't feel the emotion in it. But the way it was planned out the way it was animated, you actually felt vegeta's hatred towards Goku.
Third the hatred you could feel from Vegeta the fact goku seemed taken back summed up their rivalry up until that point perfectly. Vegeta hated goku for been stronger and goku could never understand why vegeta hated him so much.
Fourth it was the ultimate full circle for Vegeta IMO. He finally settled the hatred towards Goku and could move on. Yet when the time was needed he knocked Goku out and flew off to kill himself to save trunks and bulma. His character had moved on to the phase.
All in all there a lot of stories in dragon ball with great fights. But in my honest opinion this is the only case of a great fight telling a great story, The others are more a means to end the story. This is more the story is fight the fight is the story. No other fight in dragonball/z/gt or movies did this as well.

Damnit these pictures are annoying. So I'll just list mine as Kabood did.
Manga: Son Goku vs Piccolo Jr.
Fantastic fight, I can read it hundreds of times, but it honestly never gets old.
Anime: Son Goku vs Perfect Cell
A brilliantly animated fight, constantly moving, the hits are hard, yet nobody seems to be budging an inch! Brilliant scripted, and a suprising outcome!
Movies: Everybody (except Goku) vs Bojack & his crew
Nice to see Goku being pushed to the side for a while, as his son takes the center stage, doing quite a fine job! His transformation and ownage at the end is still worth a watch.
TV Specials: Bardock vs Freeza
Such a brilliant speech, pure silence, Nozawa at her finest.. oh, the fight? He fires something doesn't he? Ah who cares, the scene is still perfect.

Manga:Well I can't really say as I have gone totally out of order on which I've gotten.
Anime:Tie between Goku vs Vegeta (Saiyajin arc) or Goku vs. Freeza (all of it)
Movies:Goku vs. Tullece (I like seeing to low classes who have gotten far more powerful duke it out.)
TV Special: Well obviously Bardock vs Freeza (Because Bardock was the first to stand up to Freeza and that had a lot of impact on how I felt about Bardocks character and how brave he was.)

Not to get off topic, but could you quickly explain why you felt Vegeta was derailed in the Cell arc? I'm not agreeing/disagreeing with you or anything, just curious is all.B wrote:While it just so happens to be a favorite of mine, Majin Vegeta VS Buu was beautifully choreagraphed in both the manga and anime, and it brought Vegeta's character full-circle, something much needed after what can pretty much only be labeled as "character derailment" in the Cell arc.
All his bad qualities are magnified here. He lets Cell absorb 18 for the thought of a challenging fighter, and a little backtracking to the events on Namek will let you know that's not really something he would do(As if that same scenario would play out if Kui promised him a "great battle." Yeah right). Then there's how much of an ass he is to Future Trunks, but that's not so much OOC as it is just kind of painful to sit through. Vegeta goes from being this elitist badass to a quasi-idiotic jerk.Ultimate_DB_Fan wrote:Not to get off topic, but could you quickly explain why you felt Vegeta was derailed in the Cell arc? Sure, you could argue his character definately "developed," but not in any sort of positive way.

1. Son Goku vs. MaJunior (Insert reasons everyone else said)
2. Tenshinhan vs. Son Goku (23rd version because Goku outsmarts him)
3. Son Goku, Gohan, Yajirobe, and Kuririn vs. Vegeta (Just an epic struggle)
4. Son Goku vs. Freeza (A strategic battle of ki, power, and speed.)
5. Son Gohan and Goku vs. Cell (Couldn't choose between the two. They were both great together)

I rank the Vegeta vs Everyone fight as better than the Goku vs Piccolo fight for a couple of reasons:
1. Other people get involved. Piccolo exhausted his energy in nuking the island then got beat down by Goku. After he spears Goku through the chest, the others attempt to intervene to help. Piccolo waves his hand and blows them away, then they're all "WARG he's still too strong for us! It's all up to ~GOKU~!"
Not in the Vegeta fight, no sir.
2. The Vegeta fight is apocalyptic. For all the pomp and bluster of Majunior, ten seconds after the fight's over, both fighters are totally healed with Senzu. By the time Vegeta finally retreats (by dragging his shattered body over to his spacepod), half the good guys are dead and the other half are beaten so bad they can't stand up straight.

Don't tell me Bardock vs. Freeza was better than Future Gohan vs. #17 & #18.
Gohan vs. #17 & #18 was just sheer brilliance, beautifully choreographed and epic. As for Bardock vs. Freeza...being instantly obliterated by a Death Ball can't count as a fight, although it was a great scene.

My answer was almost a joke answer, I agree that as a fight, you're right, Gohan vs #17 and #18 was superior. But Bardock's final speech to Freeza. Probly' the best line of dialouge in the whole franchise.Piccolo Daimao wrote:Don't tell me Bardock vs. Freeza was better than Future Gohan vs. #17 & #18.

I'm gonna have to agree with this. The whole battle was so pulse-pounding and you were on the edge of your seat the whole time. And the aftermath of it was perfect. Everyone was fucked up as a result. For the longest time, my favorite fight was Goku vs. Majin Vegeta, but when I saw this for the first time on Season 1, I was blown the fuck away.Rocketman wrote:

Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!
