Wow, really? I'll have to re-watch the series sometime in that case.

You've seen it? It's an excellent anime, isn't it? I saw it last year on Sci-Fi. It's the only anime that ever brought out my emotions. During parts of the show, I would tense up and shake really bad and my heart would beat really fast. I usually don't cry over movies, anime, or things of the sort, but I almost cried on the 12th episode, and I'm a guy too.

But overall, the story was very intriguing and it would suck you in very easily. It may be only 13 episodes long, but the emotion packed in those 13 episodes are equivalent to a 200-300+ episode shonen anime, and maybe even more.

Yes, it the 10th anniversary tomorrow. As you can tell by my location and signature, I'm honoring it's 10th anniversary. I'm hoping to buy it eventually, but it's pretty hard to find these days....

I bought the boxset way back in the day, simply because it was cheap, and it was certainly worth the money. It's one of my favorites, but it's been quite awhile since I've watched it, so this will be a good excuse.

I love NTHT, that was a great anime, definitely one of my favorites. Bought the original CPM boxset years ago.

As for my own avatar, heh, it's Kaio-sama/King Kai, making a weird face because Goku wants to know why he doesn't want him fighting Freeza. I chose it because I love some of the facial expressions he makes, and this one seemed particularly funny.
Kentai wrote:Son Gokuu is a fascinating character anyway, because he is - at face value, anyway - an idiot savant. The victim of violent head trauma as an infant [...] he's a simple bumpkin with a fair share of brain damage who's natural talents to work out what's wrong compensate for his broad lack of common sense. But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

is my favorite character from Ikki Tousen, Ryofu Housen. This particular pose I found by accident while browsing, but I liked it, so I added a border and resized it, and BAM! New avatar.

This sucker comes courtesy of The Fly II. The scene in question is Martin Brundle's slaying of a random Bartok industry security guard by way of vomiting corrosive, digestive fly acid onto his face. Takes the poor fuck a good minute or two of agonized shrieking and pealing the melted flesh off his own face, leaving the bloody, meat-encrusted skull you see before you, before he finally expires.

Definitely a horror movie death that stays with you, and has certainly always been my hands-down favorite from this particular movie. :D
I wonder if the violence in Elfen Lied meets your standards.

Great series. Any story that invokes the Start of Darkness trope is good with me.

What's that one anime where the chick goes crazy and, like, kills all of her friends.

There's a scene where she rips out her own fingernails.

I don't remember that... is it from the manga?

There are other bloodier scenes like when Lucy tortures Bando in their first meet in episode 2, and when Mariko blowes her caretaker from the inside and we see her spine and guts in episode 11!!

Warning:Very graphic!

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

My thread continues the trend of going back and forth between scantliy-clad women and gore.

Kunziat_83, I enjoy reading your posts. Really, I do. They're entertaining, and fun to read.

But damn it, I don't like your obsession with gore. It's just so... violent. :P

For two reasons: It's the cover of Liquid Swords, a Hip-Hop classic, and the fact that it's one of the best album covers of all time. And it's my big "Fuck You" to people who act like snobs to me for liking the Wu-Tang Clan.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

[quote="Brakus"]For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". Don't get me started. Please, don't; I missed out on Space Ghost, but I remember everything else that made that network good.
