I don't think that's been officially said anywhere, but yeah, it certainly seems like they're ignoring the anime for this game: 4-fingered Namekians, Yardratians who don't look like the ones from filler, and Mister Boo apparently never fusing with Oob.B wrote:GT is not taken into account for this game.

Are you ignoring everything Herms said about humans breeding with Saiyans?Innagadadavida wrote:Did you miss the video where the human transformed into a Super Saiyan?B wrote:I really have to say people are making outrageous assumptions based on one screenshot.
And just because they aren't taking GT into account doesn't mean they can't borrow ideas from it.

Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!

I think this game is just trying to please all sides of the fan spectrum. Most casual Dragon Ball fans would probably think its stupid not to have a Super Saiyan-esque form, while others think its stupid because humans shouldn't transform in the first place. Personally, if having a human turn into "Super" form is the only way to please those fans aside from having a Saiyan race, then I'll gladly take the former option. I can suspend my disbelief for the most part with the idea that this an MMO, so not every gameplay concept should be taken in the literal canon sense ("OMG Human turnizingz Supar Sayen thatz gay' "WHUT! No Supar Sayens.. that's gay!" and such). I just hope this doesn't somehow fuck up the storyline too much. Like Scarz said, the more we're shown of this game, the more questions it raises rather than answers.Innagadadavida wrote: Well this game ignores the events of GT first of all, as Herms JUST posted above you. And second of all... Because that's stupid.
I gotta say, that avatar using the Trunks-esque sword in Super form was pretty sweet.

It takes place in the year Age 1000, which is 216 years after that last "10 years later" segment of the Boo arc in Age 784.Scarz wrote:I didn't know that the game doesn't acknowledge the GT timeline, so Iguess it takes place a thousand years after the end of the Buu saga.

It's not surprising they're changing so much. MMORPGs tend to have the settings forced around the framework of the genre rather than being able to adapt to a particular setting or story. You can't really take a world where a handful of fighters save a worldwide population of useless humans from evil aliens and convert it with any real fidelity into a game where EVERYONE is the main character. If this was accurately based on the DB world, most players would only have one button: donate spirit energy to Goku - or the Goku-esque chap that isn't Goku at all but looks an awful lot like him.

I hope there's no subscription fees because I can't afford a monthly RPG, even if it is Dragon BallHerms wrote:It seems that you have to pay.

As a gamer, the most expensive choice I've ever made was to stop playing a subscription based MMO and go back to normal, console games...spencer7x7 wrote:I hope there's no subscription fees because I can't afford a monthly RPG, even if it is Dragon Ball
I ended up spending more on three games over the course of two months than I'd spent on gaming as a whole the preceeding year.
Trust me, if this is a game that actually holds your attention for over a month and you anticipate yourself wanting to play it for another month, $10 or $15 isn't going to be that much.

But you can play those normal games as much as you want until the end of time. These online games... you want to play the thing you already bought and paid for? Every single time you pick it back up, and every 30 days you need to re-pay for the game over and over again in little pieces. So the real cost of the game is hidden... because you never stop paying for this thing you supposedly bought years ago.
