Here's a quick video comparison (FUNi, DBox):

The Dragon Box (from Japan) is 448kbps.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:So I assume the Japanese DBOX had more kbps, then? Not sure exactly what it is though.Haseowolf wrote: From what I could see, the Japanese track is only 96kbps stream, but it did sound quite full and clear.

....HOLY SHIT!!!
Oh my God, oh my God...
They did everything right! (Discs aside) Even the names! Son Goku, Kuririn, Kienzan, Taio-ken, Genki Dama, Kamehame-ha, doesn't even mention the Funi voice actors... oh shit, need to change pants.... *zip* Ah, there we go!
I have to wait for this for Christmas, and it's gonna hurt like a bitch!
Oh well, I've got something to look forward to!
*And that Funimation/Japanese Dragonbox image, are they the same? I really see no differences whatsoever. Or maybe I'm just blind.

In a funny turn of events, it appears to have a smidgen less contrast than the original.SuperSaiyan3Goku wrote:And that Funimation/Japanese Dragonbox image, are they the same? I really see no differences whatsoever. Or maybe I'm just blind.
That shouldn't be a bother though. The fact that I had to study a comparison shot to see that is a good thing.
Awesome work, FUNi

Call me a black sheep, but I'm not really a fan of the way these look. All the colors just look a little..."faded" if that makes sense (I believe someone brought up contrast a few posts back). I mean, they look good, all in all, but there's just this dark "gray-ness" to it for me =/
I dunno, maybe I'm just used to the brightness of the orange bricks.

It seems a little better with the "Dragonbox" but not a huge leap. I hope this still means we got the same footage as on the Japanese footage.Kendamu wrote:I may just be looking too hard, but I barely see any sort of a difference. The differences may become more apparent when seeing it in motion.

Combined the shots.

Everybody remember, our FUNi Box screenshot source admitted to having some quality issues with his Screenshots, so take this with a Grain of salt until we get some Shots that are definitely quality ones.

Remember this part of his post:Innagadadavida wrote:I don't know what you guys are talking about, but I see a pretty big difference. The Japanese Dragon Box is so much more crisp. They could have just gave us 7 discs and it would look better.
I'm only 90% satisfied by what I've seen so far. I have yet to see the sets in motion.
He's flat out TELLING us that the screenshots he's posted are not the best quality, and is apologizing about that fact, so try to take this with a grain of salt until we're sure we've got the best quality shots for comparison.Haseowolf wrote:And now for some screen caps. I dearly apologize. I took these in PNG and photobucket is not being helpful with its errors and image shack is worthless. I will update them soon.
Like I said, when I can get stuff working, I'll post the real PNG's of the screen caps.
I don't think so. I remember seeing Funimation's press conference on Youtube and they said that if it wasn't dubbed before then they weren't going to dub it.Gozar wrote:So what did FUNi do for the Episode Previews on the Dub track? Did Kyle Hebert do some narrating? Or did they just switch it over to Japanese and not Dub it?

I think it was one or two I forget I need to check my UUSE or Orange Brick.DemonRin wrote:What Ep is that Raditz Shot from? I'll pull out my Orange Brick and Add it to the comparison shot I made.hunterxhunter21 wrote:I'm kinda interested in a orange brick/funi dbox/dbox shot now. Anyone else?

Pretty sure it's episode 2 (I just flipped through my .vob files until I found it).DemonRin wrote:What Ep is that Raditz Shot from? And yes guys, there is a visible different between the two, but it could easily be attributed to the fact that Haseowolf's .jpg FUNi DBox screens were compressed to JPEG format by Photobucket. We should wait for lossless versions before a definitive judgement is made.
