1. There is no point in doing a quality comparison if it isn't done with proper images, as anyone who does proper comparisons would know.

2. Read my post smeghead, I didn't insult you, you insulted yourself, and I agreed (although I've insulted you now, post you insulting me.)

Unless the settings were tweaked on whatever program was used, I suppose they'd be fine for comparisons of color. Just not resolution and detail.

If the stream isn't decoded properly, the color can be wrong, either slightly, or by a lot (In VLC on Windows7, because the VLC crew hasn't set the output right, pink can come out NEON blue based on a few settings that have nothing to do with color..)

Late posting here, but GOD, everything about these is practically perfect from where I'm standing and I STILL haven't ordered it!

The box, the book, the menu, the discs, it all looks great...

Sorry everyone, I've never really checked the bitrate of audio streams on a DVD before, but I'm pretty sure I've got this right. Here's what VLC is telling me:

Stream 6:
Type: Video
Codec: mpgv
Resolution: 720x480
Display Resolution: 720x480
Framerate: 29.970029

...

Stream 8:
Type: Audio
Codec: a52
Language: Japanese
Channels: Mono
Sample rate: 48000 Hz
Bitrate: 96 kb/s

So it is at 96 kb/s, right? Sorry again guys. Hey, at least I know when I might be wrong, heh...heh....ehhhh....

1: I flat out said they were early and to take them with a Grain of Salt, I'm not as clueless as you seem to think I am

2: You Started throwing out the Swear words first when they were totally uncalled for. You just had to tell me to stop and I would have.

Am I allowed to make comparison images after we get what you guys deem as "Proper" screenshots, or should I just shut up and leave?

Yes, the audio appears to be 96k. Ignore the video section, as DVD output info can be squirrely on some programs.

1: It doesn't matter, if you do a comparison image, it needs to be a proper COMPARISON, not a 'well it's probably not right'

I'm still trying to decide what answer I want to give to your question based on future responses, I will get back to you on that one.

1: Stop.

2: Stop.

3: Numbering is kinda fun! :D

But Seriously, this set looks amazing. I'm so glad I pre-ordered. Hopefully Amazon ships soon! I'd love to see what the case looks like under the discs though...

Under the discs is just the ruby-red holographic coloring with the disc number written in gold. No fancy/awesome arts.

Also, I checked both disc 1, 5 and 6 and there are no special features on the discs. No trailers no nothing. They really wanted to conserve the space on these babies.

I admit it might have been wrong, but I still don't think it's such a big deal that you had to come at me, guns ablazing and throwing "Fuck" at me like you were angry. That's what was insulting.

Just drop it, please. Let's try to focus on the product itself.

Is there any indication in the set, like in the Funimation catalog that comes with every DVD, about when the next one is going to be released?

Nope, but the catalog that came with it is exactly the same as the Evangelion 1.01 You Are (Not) Alone set and, funnily enough, the only thing Dragon Ball advertised in them (not counting the separate advert for Raging Blast/Revenge of King Piccolo) are the single releases of Tree of Might and Lord Slug even though they were canceled way before that. If you guys would like to know, they are coming out January 26th

Haseowolf,

I'm kinda curious, how do YOU feel about the set? Was it worth it? Would you recommend to fans of the dub? I guess I'm just curious on how happy you are about this release and how you feel about the future releases of the Dragon Box.

The set almost seems like it's embarrassed to have the English dub on it.

But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

My question for Haseowolf, does the English track have the Japnese cha-la theme? Or does it have that generic guitar solo?

Hmmm...

Well, having just re-watched a good chunk of this set recently, I can't say it'll be easy for me to sit down and watch it all soon. I'm watching some favorite scenes here and there though and will definitely be sitting down and watching all the NEPs.

I am really happy with it. Correct aspect ratio is great. No disappearing lines or DVNR'd-to-shit picture. Correct colors. What isn't there to like?

While the audio being at a meager 96 kb/s, it does sound a lot more clear and full as opposed to the Orange Bricks. Strangely enough, it sounds like the volume when changed to the dub goes down as opposed to the other way around on the Orange Bricks. While a plus for Japanese fans, it'll be weird for dub-watchers.

The packaging is absolutely fabulous. Correct character bios, accurate names of characters and techniques, character sketches, timeline of current events when the series broadcast, episode air dates (the Japanese ones ^_^), durable box.

The only thing that disappoints me is the disc stacking. Otherwise I really feel FUNimation has redeemed themselves. This is a company that gave us edited dub only episodes for the longest time; rife with inaccurate scripts and visual changes. Now, here we are. A real replica of the legendary Dragon Box. It's almost too much for words.

I've got to say, I'm glad to have the community here that we do have. I don't have a lot of friends that care about Dragon Ball as much as I do and having you guys...its just great. Even the fights! It's like Thanksgiving on these forums every day :D But in all seriousness, we all do a great job here and I thank you guys for putting up with my life outside of Dragon Ball and all my mistakes in this thread.

Any other outstanding questions I missed?
