Yeah, I know, but Amazon is probably one of the only places where the reviews can be helpful (and I've never (edit) seen early comments before). I remember putting up my site features as PDFs on iTunes for download. One or two of them said they were awesome, while others gave it one star because they "wanted more DBZ on iTunes!!!"Jon Jon wrote:People spout their opinions regardless. An interviewer asks, "The soundtrack in Sonic 3 has become legendary. Is it true that you worked with Michael Jackson on it?" Takashi Iizuka kills all of our hopes and dreams by replying, "You know, those are just rumors, and SEGA does not want to say anything about them. So they will forever be just rumors..." WHY!?

Technically the release date isn't until Tuesday anyway ;pReckoner wrote:Now, granted, most of the 5 star reviews were posted before the release date as well so maybe I'm calling the kettle black here. Just because I agree with those reviews.
Still, it's a sad fact. Most people love to post reviews about stuff long before the release and cite a ton of misinformation. Oh well, much like our reviews about the Orange Bricks didn't seem to deter sales, I seriously doubt any negativity in terms of online reviews will hamper the DragonBox figures.

DBZfan29 wrote:I contacted Amazon about the low-star ratings. All of these reviews were written months before the Dragon Box's release. A review of a product is not your feelings toward the release's announcement. Some of the reviews even have false information - like one guy saying that the Dragon Boxes from Japan had movies on them, when the films were released separately. That was his/her reason for not buying the set.
A review is also not complaining about no dub track! Kai is coming out, don't buy this, no dub, not buying, etc. Shut up and wait for the set to be released before you go writing a review for it!
Anyway, Amazon replied back saying they removed some of the reviews. Ironically, though, they kept all the ones I complained about!
Wrong! People always review stuff before the product comes out. Sometimes the review has to do if the Anime is good or not. Or the quality of the release. False information is wrong though. I agree.
But people can complain if they want about the dub track. Also, since we are in line with false information. What about this false information stated on a comment reply to someones recent review.
That is not the case with the Season Sets, since Funimation had lied. That's what people think. But those season sets were suppose to be for everyone that liked Dragonball Z period( I mean seriously it had Japanese audio and subtitles on there, there was no indication of catering to a specific fanbase). People's egos about these Dragon Box sets are running wild. It's just a higher quality release that anyone deserves to watch. The Season Sets were released two years ago and catered to the dub/casual fans. The Dragon Box is for the other side of the fan base.
And it's not a good idea to try and get rid of people's opinions. Because you don't like it.

I was one of those Season Set reviewers. Not going to tell you which one was mine though. I've been slowly making my way through. I love what I'm seeing so far, especially the faster-paced moments.
I'm not looking for things to complain about, but I noticed a short instance of the picture breaking up at 02:01:41, near the end of episode 5 when Nappa is shown sitting in his pod. Nothing major, but does that happen on everyone's copy?

My DBox is finally processing on Amazon and my card's been charged.....So exciting, it'll be here on Tuesday!
I also got to see a boat load of Dragon Boxes at my local Best Buy on Friday (and I held one and admired it's pretty-ness) ,but, I was there to buy a PS3 game.... I didn't want to spend the 70 dollars on top of a 60 dollar video game, or deal with trying to haggle with price matching, I was tired and just wanted to grab game and go home. >_>
(dear god, I am so poor now....

Well, I finally got my Dragon Box on Monday, but I didn't have time to look at it until Friday. I love this set! FUNimation, you have finally done something with Dragon Ball right! The only thing I don't like about the set is the slightly reduced quality of the video from the Japanese releases. When I have time, I'll take uncompressed screencaps of both to compare.
Also, here's something I found out while watching it. If you have the language in the menu set to Japanese, during the next episode preview, if you switch the language to English using your remote, it'll play a much higher quality version of the Japanese audio during the preview.

Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

While I wasn't trying to get rid of anyone's opinion, I was just in disagreement. He was wrong in saying that the Season Sets were released a year ago. I corrected him on that. Afterwords, the rest was my opinion on the aftermath of the Season Sets. Yes, it was suppose to be a release for every fan, but after the issues were addressed before and after the release, it wasn't exactly an ideal release. Most people didn't listen or didn't care. The marketing for the Season Sets also were aware of the consensus purchasing it. Just look at the commercials. Sure there's the emphasis on ORIGINAL JAPANESE AUDIO, but just about everything else in the ads reeks of the Cartoon Network/Toonami vibe *Insert random guitar riff that has nothing to do with the series here*. So in my opinion, yeah, it's for the casual fan base. I don't see anything egotistical about that.SSVegetto wrote:That is not the case with the Season Sets, since Funimation had lied. I can definitely see how someone might interpret it as false information. I would like to say it's more of an opinion if anything else. Everyone can enjoy the Dragon Box and I certainly will take note of that, but I just think it's unlikely when the casual consumer will find that there's either no Falcouner track, Cheaper Season Sets, or both.

Excuse us for enjoying a domestic Dragonball release once in a great while. Yeah, the US dub music isn't on there anymore. Too bad. I guess you'll just have to watch it the way it was meant to be seen in the first place.SSVegetto wrote:People's egos about these Dragon Box sets are running wild. I agree wholeheartedly. Everybody deserves the best quality possible for animé, not just the dub fans nor the fans of the original. I am a strong proponent of one for all and I think it's great that Dragon Ball Z is finally being represented as it should have been, but when people start up with entitlement complexes, I just cannot take them seriously anymore.SSVegetto wrote:People's egos about these Dragon Box sets are running wild. I still have to wait until Amazon ships my order and then the transit time before I can experience the set for myself, but as a dub fan I really couldn't care if the episode titles are displayed as translated Japanese titles because, well, a rose by any other name...
