Same, I never saw that episode until now. I loved how much of a jerk off the robot was XD

Huh?
I watched disk 1-2 and didn't notice any sync problems... exactly like my R2 singles. Bad copy?

Well I will say this, I tried playing the Dragon Box on my computer (via Windows Media Player and PowerDVD) and neither of them could properly play it, they messed up, my HDTV DVD Player works fine though.

I will say this: The DragonBox Slim appears to employ some form of copy protection that a few devices might not like. I'll go more in depth in the review of the box.

That's actually my favorite filler episode of the entire series. It's so unlike the rest of the show, but somehow it fits in. It's LOADS better than the episode with the orphans anyway.

I've actually always loved the orphans ep, and was beyond thrilled to find out there was more material with them that I'd never seen before. That and it actually made sense now why there was a boat in their yard... I couldn't understand why it was ok to say they were orphans 9aka no parents) but not give even a hint that there was a tsunami that made them orphans.

The robot episode, however, I actually had seen before- it was included as an extra on one of my original Pioneer movie DVDS (coulda been Dead Zone or World's strongest, not sure which) ^____^ Quite a treat.

It was Dead Zone. That DVD also tossed in all the "Gohan getting lost in the woods" footage that had been cut out of episode 1.

I hope it will play on my DVD player. :( The first disc of FUNi's DBGT "season one" set wouldn't play on my DVD player. I had to watch it on my computer.

Edit: Quality was reduced when I uploaded it to tinypic... the actual shot was perfect><

I was just watching that on the Dead Zone DVD the other night. It was pretty cool that they threw that on. Though it would have been better if it had been on the damn TV DVDs.

I like the orphans episode, though, because at the end, Gohan manages to get home, but then decides to turn around again and train. Piccolo is nearby and he yells, "What is your goal?!"

Gohan replies, "To train to defeat the Saiyans!"

One of my favorite moments in the entire series.

I remember the Pioneer Movie 1 DVD having that little extras section of Japanese scenes we never got in America, and it had a few clips of Gohan in the woods from episode 1, and the robot episode. I also remember how HORRIBLE the video was for those clips. Somebody should cap it, and put it side-by-side with a Dragon Box cap.

Amazing though, isn't it? A Dragon Ball Z DVD with cool extras like that? Pioneer was the bomb back then. I wonder how they even got that footage, since for the TV series, they were only releasing the edited dubs FUNi sent them.

Man, that brings back memories now. Pioneer's movie releases were my first real exposure to uncut Dragon Ball Z. I remember renting the uncut dub of Movie 3 from Blockbuster, and comparing it word for word with the edited dub that aired on Cartoon Network back then.

I never noticed that there were "Deleted Scenes" on the Dead Zone DVD! I just popped it in and watched. Thanks for the info!

I first noticed it maybe two, three years ago almost by accident and was stunned with joy- I'd never seen those scenes at all or any of the beginning of the series in Japanese before so a hidden gem like that was a treasure, regardless of the video quality.

This thread is fucking long. I give up trying to follow this shit.

Can someone PM me when a proper JP/US Dragonbox comparison has been compiled?

I'm not diving through the 40-ish pages I haven't been keeping tabs on. The point of topic is changing every 5 or so posts. This is ridiculous.

Did it turn up today?

Are you talking the original DVDs? I own the pioneer uncut movie box, would it be on those?
