I'm pretty sure his Sexy Jutsu would before anything.goku the krump dancer wrote:Would the Kyuubi prevent Naruto from riding Nimbus?
But if there's anything the Naruto storyline has taught us recently, it's that Fanservice > Rationality

I haven't been following Naruto lately at all, but I have to agree with both of you; between kyuubi and the sexy jutsu there's no way Naruto could ride Kinto'un. He'd fall through it just like Kamesennin and Bulma did in the beginning of DB.
It doesn't make him a bad guy; even Kuririn can't ride Kinto'un, it's just that you've got to be "pure of heart" to ride it.
Oh, definitely. The guy can absolutely draw, I've seen great stuff from him, but that doesn't stop 90% of Naruto from looking downright ugly.Chuquita wrote: I'm starting to wonder if Mr. Kishimoto's one of those artists who works better under less time constraints, as his piece up there looks way more vibrant than the stiffness I've seen in his recent work.
Who decides how many pages each manga chapter has to be, anyway? 20 seems to be the norm for weekly series, but Dragonball only had 14.

Kishimoto and Oda only do about 17-19 while Kubo does about 19-20 a week, but they've each got different styles and staffs, not to mention endurance. Toriyama once commented that he could possibly do 19 pages a week, but he doesn't like to push very hard.Adamant wrote:Oh, definitely. Kishimoto's style has changed over the years a great deal (Part II specifically looks different from Part I for a more mature look, considering there isn't as much youthful ignorance and comedy in story arcs filled with the grim reality of growing up on the battlefield).

How come all Shounen series theese days are so grim and gritty. Ichigo and Naruto both feel dispair and even the anime series are like this.JulieYBM wrote: Kishimoto's style has changed over the years a great deal (Part II specifically looks different from Part I for a more mature look, considering there isn't as much youthful ignorance and comedy in story arcs filled with the grim reality of growing up on the battlefield).
Come on! Dragon Ball wasn't all this emo.
And about the art (SPOILERS AHOY!):
IMO Kishimoto's art is getting better whereas Kubo's is deteriorating.
Kishimoto's character designs on the other hand are just a bit too bland, with Torune and Fuu being the prime examples. Kubo on the other hand knows how to make a villian look more kickass, for example Tousen and his hollow armor.

I don't remember where I heard this and I could be way off, but I remember reading somewhere that in Jump, gag manga chapters have 14 pages, while story manga have 19-20. DB started out as a gag manga, and so it kept 14 pages throughout its run (well, until the Boo arc at least).Adamant wrote:Who decides how many pages each manga chapter has to be, anyway? 20 seems to be the norm for weekly series, but Dragonball only had 14.

Bleach and Naruto aren't the only two Shônen Manga, y'know.Shoryuken wrote:How come all Shounen series theese days are so grim and gritty. Not that fans weren't saying the same things about the Freeza and Jinchû arcs on Dragon Ball and Rurôni Kenshin.

That's only due to Tousen's "predicament." If he didn't have it, his new form would be the laziest thing ever. But because of it, it's brilliant.Shoryuken wrote:Kubo on the other hand knows how to make a villian look more kickass, for example Tousen and his hollow armor.
But... Dragon Ball! I think it's pretty safe to say Toriyama will most likely be doing this for a lot of the current Jump hits, such as Bleach, Gintama, Reborn, etc.
Really, I want see what the authors do for 2014 wehn Dragon Ball hits 30.

Anyway, on topic:
Toriyama's art style is really versatile.
He can go from cartoonish "Dr.Slump Style" to a more realistic approach as seen in "Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors".

Bleach & Naruto form a...trinity? How's that work, exactly?Shoryuken wrote:Bleach, Naruto form the so called Holy Shounen Trinity.
I'd assume YBM was referring to One Piece when he said not all shounen manga were grim and gritty.

Pretty much, but even then I wouldn't call Bleach Grim and gritty. I'm sure there are a number of other Shônen that are still light, too.Herms wrote:Bleach & Naruto form a...trinity? How's that work, exactly?Shoryuken wrote:Bleach, Naruto form the so called Holy Shounen Trinity.

My bad, I would also have written One Piece, but it seems a typo occured.Herms wrote:Bleach & Naruto form a...trinity? How's that work, exactly?Shoryuken wrote:Bleach, Naruto form the so called Holy Shounen Trinity.

@JulieYBM
If you've read the recent chapter you've probably know how grim it's gotten.
