There may be different names for the Arcs
Saiyajin or Vegeta
Freeza or Namek (as a whole)
Cell or Artificial Human Arc (or Android if you will)
And Boo is just Boo.

Re: Dragon Box Z 2's Hands On Discussion
Where in the manga does it divide things up by story arc? There aren't title pages labled "Freeza arc starts now" or anything (and of course there's all that stuff that comes before Raditz shows up, which in the manga isn't a separate series). Story arc divisions are only found in things like guidebooks and other secondary material, and they don't all divide things up the same way. For instance, the manga guides split the "Boo" portion of the series into the High School, 25th Tenkaichi Budoukai, and Majin Boo arcs, while Toei's website counts these as one arc.Soul wrote:Says... the manga?
Though I'm not sure what the original poster meant by an "official" story arc. If he just meant the original story vs. filler and that stuff like Garlic Jr. and the afterlife tournament aren't part of the "real" story, then I guess that's OK (though I don't think "official" would be the right word for this distinction), but if he meant that only one specific way of dividing the series up into smaller story arcs is official, then that's not accurate.

The Spanish dub said "Saiyajin", "Kamisama", and "Namekusei", despite it not meaning anything particular in Spanish.MajinVejitaXV wrote:'Sei' just means 'planet' in this instance, in case you didn't know.Daimo-Rukiri wrote:The Freeza arc begins when they blast of for Nameksei(yes.. weird spelling but it's how Kuririn and Gohan say it><)
Re: Dragon Box Z 2's Hands On Discussion
I've always seen the arcs as:
Pilaf - 21st Tenkaichi Budokai - Red Ribbon Army - Uranai Baba - 22nd Budokai - Piccolo Daimao - 23rd Budokai - Saiyan - Namek - Freeza - Garlic Jr. (Filler) - Cyborg - Cell - Afterlife Budokai (Filler) - Great Saiyaman - 25th Budokai - Bobbidi - Boo - Epilogue
But that's just me I guess.

Well, I was getting this in a few days, but another c***-sucking company I ordered from charged me 4 times for the same thing. Now I need to wait for them to credit my card back before I can get it.

In one of the PS2 DBZ game guides they had Z split up into 16 sagas, so I've always gone with that because the Funi singles huave it split into 16 as well.

Does Dragon Boxes have a wide screen version\option? If it has... how does it look, is it stretched?

...Really? But if you go to VLC and use the Crop option and select 16:9 it's basically just that footage cropped to 16:9. There is not wide screen option on the discs themselves they are encoded in 4:3.Tracer1 wrote:Does Dragon Boxes have a wide screen version\option? If it has... how does it look, is it stretched?

The footage itself is encoded in 4:3 Fullscreen because that's the way the show was produced in the late 1980s to early 1990s when it was made. That's how the show was made and is meant to be presented, so that's how these discs are presented.Tracer1 wrote:Does Dragon Boxes have a wide screen version\option? However, most modern DVD players have Stretch and Zoom options available, so if you absolutely must see the show in Widescreen, you can use one of those options.
Stretch does indeed stretch the footage, and Zoom will crop off the top and bottom (and sometimes a bit of the sides depending on how much the Zoom function is)
This effect is different on each DVD player because several players will Zoom to different degrees.

Now, I like how Bejiita-sama is on the cover, because Bejiita-sama really does a good job thwarting Furiza-sama's plans, and his figh with Zabon-san and Dodolia-san is sugoi!

My PS3 stretches out the footage to widescreen. How do I change it back to 4:3?DemonRin wrote:The footage itself is encoded in 4:3 Fullscreen because that's the way the show was produced in the late 1980s to early 1990s when it was made. Push Triangle and look for the display options while you're playing the DVD. That or Select.Drabaz wrote:My PS3 stretches out the footage to widescreen. How do I change it back to 4:3?

Re: Dragon Box Z 2's Hands On Discussion
Yes, interestingly we have about 6 DVD players in the house including the Xbox and the PS3. the PS3 is one of the only two DVD players in the house (the other being the JVC) that I can actually shut Auto-stretch off.
Lucky, I have the JVC in my room now XD

Y'know, I was watching the last few episodes on this yesterday, and it really does suck not being able to switch over to the dub music given the quality I was now watching it in. There were so many moments that I wanted to truly enjoy in the best quality, but alas, I can't

Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Re: Dragon Box Z 2's Hands On Discussion
Amazingly, in a way I almost agree with you. With the DBoxes, I've gotten back in the habit of spot checking the dub, which I haven't done in forever. Hearing the Japanese score backing the dub is cool, but there have been those annoying moments when it's obvious that the script wasn't written for the score. Obviously FUNimation's fault, but that's neither here nor there. Basically, in spot checking, I'm doing a comparison, and it falls a bit flat when I can't hear what decisions FUNimation made in regards to the music. Then again, the dub music's ability to make my ears bleed was probably the main reason I stopped spot checking all those years ago, so maybe it's a good thing after all...
