Kai's Errors and Censorships

Post by dragondyle » Sun Jan 31, 2010 2:47 am

What are all of the errors and censorships in Kai so far? Could anyone out there make a list of all the errors and censorships and some picture comparisons that Kai has to offer?

What would you consider to be an error? Simply something that contradicts what is drawn in the manga? Also, what would you consider censorship? I don't think cutting out some blood here and there is what I'd call drastic censorship. Especially if it matches the manga. I know fans hate to hear it, but Z did make some things a lot more gruesome than they ever were in the manga.

As far as a list, I think it would differ based on what one person would consider an error or censorship.

Ah, true. Never put that into consideration. I would consider an error like animation errors or comparison to the manga error. As for censorship, I would say a change that totally stands out that makes a big difference in the animation compared to the original anime.

In terms of errors, perhaps we could count Vegeta wearing his Cell saga armor in the eye catcher where he's featured with Gohan and Kuririn in their Saiyan armor.

Why is Toei censoring stuff that wasn't originally censored to begin with?

And is there any word of a possible uncensored release on dvd?

Hotlinking is for monkeys. Copy/paste into a new window and it should work.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Animenation's news should have the link.

But anyway, what's up with all the censorship? Is Toei trying to create a single "non-offensive" version that all countries can play without having to censor anything?

This is the "Akira Toriyama" cut to bring it closer to the Manga.

I direct you to Hujio's post above.

As far as a list, I think it would differ based on what one person would consider an error or censorship.
For example, when the Makankosappou went through Son and Raditz, there was VERY Little blood in the manga, like almost none. the Original DBZ Anime added a bucket of blood to a scene that had a couple of tablespoons at best.

And There are things Kai has done so far that I'd call improvements, like Vegeta's armor not being ugly colored in the beginning anymore, and the hole in the back of Vegeta's armor being consistently there in Namek. In DBZ, he gets a hole shot through him, and in the very next scene his armor is back to normal without a scratch. In Kai, the hole stays there.

Good examples of what Rin's talking about:

Well, if we're going all "manga accurate," does that mean they'll be ratcheting up the gore by truckloads for the Cell Jrs. being annihilated? ;)

I'm pretty sure it's the opposite of that. :p

Hell, that poses the question of whether #19 and #16 will have blood spray out of their wrists and head respectively.

Standards have changed since it originally aired. It's also showing at 9am on Sunday now, as opposed to (I think) 7pm on Wednesday.

He's talking about what time the show airs in Japan, not where you live. Besides, you didn't even get the time right for the east coast... It'd be 5pm EST.

And yes, DBZ originally aired on Wednesdays at 7pm.

Actually he/she was trying to say that it would be 5 AM on the East Coast while the show would've been airing in Japan at 7 PM, depending on DST and considering that Japan is about 14 hours ahead.
