Honestly, you don't really need to buy them. Just stick to what you have if you're already happy with it. I'm not even sure I'll get the rest of the Boxes because I'll enjoy the show substantially less, whereas with the Season sets, it may not look as great, but I actually enjoy watching it.

Just get them as deals pop up (Amazon had DragonBox 1 as a Gold Deal for $22 earlier this week, for instance). It's the perfect compromise. Unless you're completely infatuated with the Faulconer score, the DragonBoxes best the Orange Bricks in every conceivable fashion.

Really, this is a situation you can only help yourself on. To do that, you just need to ask yourself a few questions:

1: What do you feel about the aspect ratio of the show and the overall Video quality?
2: How much do you care about the Bruce Faulconer dub music?

If the answer to number 1 swings towards apathy to the video quality or even enjoyment of the quality of the Orange Bricks, and you find you really want the Faucloner music, then just stick with your Orange Bricks.

If you find you want the best video quality possible and you are either dislike or are apathetic about the Faulconer track, then go for the Dragon Boxes, Sell your Orange Bricks for some extra cash.

You're probably the only one talking sense right now. Things lose value as demand diminishes, that's how it goes.

I've already said that I'm comfortable with the lesser quality Orange Bricks (even though the wide-screen thing is the most piss poor thing they've ever done with the series). It's the exact same stuff, just lower quality (which I'm not picky about the quality anyway). I'm just pissed that Funi is simply re-re-re-re-releasing the series into nothing more than enhanced picture and sound. I'm getting sick of simply re-buying the series. It's simply too expensive for me to keep doing that. I'm not a penny pincher, it's just I'm getting sick of the same thing over and over again.

But yeah, buy whatever you're most happy with. If you already own the Orange Bricks and are happy with them, then you're all set. Personally, I was happy with the Orange Bricks myself; I'm not too worried quality, the cropping didn't distract me, and it let me watch the whole series in Japanese for a good price. If that was the best we ever got, I wouldn't have complained.

This doesn't stop me from buying the Dragon Boxes, of course, but that's only because I want to own them.

I once owned all the singles, have since sold them off, and am now buying the Dragon Boxes. Never bothered with the Orange Bricks because of the cropping, but damned if I didn't spend a lot of money on those single DVDs.

If I can double dip, so can you. And it's so worth it. I've never had as much fun watching Z as I have watching it on these Dragon Boxes.

If you don't have enough money, then I highly recommend either turning bandit-thief like Yamcha... Or find a new job to compensate your need to add to your collection. On a plus side I want to be that bad-voice in your head.... I'm pretty sure if you go to court for mugging some strange person in the middle of nowhere, the judge will totally understand the overwhelming need for the Dragonboxes and would let you off with a warning.
