You could say the same thing for the movies, parts of Dragon Ball and parts of Dragon Ball Z, but I guess it's got more do with the hatred of GT everyone has got going on here.

I did say the same thing for the movies, right there in my post. I also don't try to explain filler, because I just don't care. I do come up with explanations for parts of the manga, because I do care about that, but there are some fans who couldn't care less about those either. It varies from person to person.

I also don't hate GT. I just don't really expect it to make sense.

But yeah, my point stands. And to expand upon it, it's part of why I've never considered DBGT to only be 5 years after DBZ. Where did that notion come from anyway, the GT Perfect files? Because those things are far from perfect.

Just look at the character designs in GT, particularly the non-Saiyan characters. How could Krillin have gone from looking the way he does at the end of Z into an old man with gray hair in just 5 short years? Why is Pan going out on dates if she's only 9? Why does Bra dress like a hooker if she's only 9 or 10 as well? I mean, I know that Japanese culture is a little more lax when it comes to the sexualization of children in animation, but come on.

I've always seen DBGT as being 10 years later, especially within the context of the show itself. If you actually watch the series, the supposed "5 years later" thing just doesn't add up or work well, in my opinion.

If anyone else wants to provide me with other evidence that states it as being 5 years, feel free to do so. But it's well known that the animation/series books that Toei put out are not the be-all-end-all when it comes to accuracy.

I think the Perfect Files are the only place to state it, but in the context of the series it's also the only thing that makes sense. Bra's design is the only one that doesn't mesh with the five year skip, meanwhile Pan, Trunks, Goten, and Uub don't mesh with 10 years. 9 year olds go on dates. Around here kids started going on dates anytime between 8 and 12. Pan looks a lot closer to 9/10 than Bra looks to 15/16. At best she looks 12, IMO, which about fits for the 5 year skip. As for their clothes, its anime. A lot of kids an anime dress like that. And it doesn't take long to go gray. So yeah, I have to disagree. If you actually watch the series the idea it's 10 years later doesn't hold up.

People here are joking about it, but because people elsewhere are serious about it. It's a common trend. If two characters (of the same gender) are close friends then they must have a thing for each other. The same thing is seen with Trunks and Goten as well.

I actually don't see Tenshinhan and Chaozu as gay. They always just seemed more asexual than anything to me. If they do have any sexual desires, I think their ascetic lifestyles have sublimated them.

But Trunks and Goten? Gay as Namek's day is long; though only for each other, I think. I see them as bisexual and MOSTLY hetero, but the sheer intensity of their sheer love/lust for one another makes them perfect lovers/life partners/husbands.

Oh. My. God. No they do not. They are friends and that is it. You're basing all of this on that slightly less than hetero dance you have pictured in your avatar. They were really weirded out by the big homo guy in the tournament. Goten and Trunks did absolutely nothing that would even possibly suggest the slightest hint of homo eroticism.

I don't know how you act in the states, but at least in Europe, it's not unusual for two close male friends to goof around like Goten and Trunks do, included that silly dance. Yes, it's silly, not homoerotic at all.
And if you are as close as the duo, you consider each other as brothers, and thus you hang out often.
Hell, people seem to forget that once, the two of them were fused. I bet that even Goku and Vegeta got a little bit closer after their fusion. I mean, suddenly, after the fusion, Vegeta understood the whole deal about Goku, and even cooperated with him much easier.

It's the same with Tenshinhan and Chao-zu. They have been friends for a long time. and the two of them share a brotherly relationship. Tenshinhan is the stronger one, which leads to him trying to protect Chao-zu.

These confusions between brotherhood and homosexuality is exactly why some people go around and say things like "NAROOTO HAS the GAYZ FOR SASOOKE!" or even associate Samwise Gamgi and Frodo Baggins for homosexual beings, when the problem is that brotherhood, as it was seen for a long time ago seems as something unfomfortable nowadays since people more and more distance themselves from such displays of their feelings.
I understand that some people say those things for the lulz, but you have to be able to distinguish homosexuality from having a deep relationship with someone.
It's this uneducation of a really simple matter that leads to gays being portrayed like either muscular brutes that want to take it in the ass, or really sensitive, feminine and clingy individuals.

There's nothing sexual about that comment, they're just two people who are tied very closely to each other in friendship- it's like Chaoutzu is his adopted son.

As much as I approve of slash, the fact is that no one is allowed to be close to anyone else (including family members) without a fair amount of individuals assuming they're sexually attracted to each other in modern fandom.

I totally saw that coming, and I was going to mention that for all I know, he could be dating a guy. However, since he was explaining this to Trunks, it doesn't seem likely that it was Trunks he was going on a date with. Unless it was all an elaborate act to trick their dads, but...that's when you have to start really stretching it.

I don't see where you are pointing at, really, since what they seem to do is kinda normal in my eyes. For brothers and friends, that is.
I have a twin brother myself, and I would say our relationship is very alike Goten's and Trunks'. That doesn't mean that we have the hots for eachother, right?

It's not the dance (though that certainly doesn't help). It's everything. It's the way they're not just willing but eager to merge their bodies and minds.

But most of all it's just the sheer tightness of their relationship. That actually served as the basis for one of the best fics I ever read, where they are dating girls but both end up getting dumped, because the girls realize they'll never be as important to them as the other is. Before they'd agree to a date or anything, they'd always check to see if each other had any plans first. Depressed over this, the two of them get nice and liquored up, in their drunken haze admit they've been...curious...about each other, and things go from there.

Alcohol aside, that's how I see them. They're so incredibly close I just don't see them able to form any long-term romantic relationships with anyone else. I guess it's the unquestionable fact that they love one another fiercely...I just think it grows beyond just the "best friend" kind of love.

(also re: orientation, I see them willing to fool around with girls physically while keeping their hearts for each other, especially if they do it together. Or at least, I see Trunks willing to do this and talking Goten into it)
