On-topic, I think that Goku and Bulma's friendship were strong enough that it could've developed into romantic feelings for Bulma. Although I am doubtful as to whether it would've lasted or not, due to two people with such contrasting personalities. I've always thought they could be pretty cute together if Son was capable of romantic feelings and Bulma was slightly less of a fickle bitch. It'd probably involve a lot of work in fanfiction but would end up adorable.
