Where's it said that nobody keeps their body at death?
Title says it all. Kami gives Goku back his physical body to train with Kaio, fine, but where is it said that everybody else is a puff of cloud in the afterlife? The first person after Goku has a body, while we see a dog and a Martian with bodies when he's in heaven during the Boo saga. Would this not imply that it's possible to have some form of spiritual body?

When giving his goodbye speech after the Cell Games, Goku says that ordinary people and really evil folks like Cell don't keep their bodies in the afterlife.

Just looked at the manga. Everyone else in line was a puff cloud after he died in the fight against Raditz.Dayspring wrote:Title says it all. Yeah, in the panel where Kami-sama is being chewed out by Enma for "thinking too loud", there's a confused-looking dog/wolf/fox man with glasses lined up to be judged.

Well it should be a pretty obvious rule. They said that the only reason Goku got to keep his body was cause he earned it by saving the world etc etc. Why would normal people or especially evil people get that privilege ?

Re: Where's it said that nobody keeps their body at death?
Well, what if you're the person that saved the world and your spouse/lover/life partner doesn't get to keep their body?
Look at it this way. I think we can safely assume that upon final death, Mirai Trunks will get to keep his body. Now, let's also assume that in the time that passes between his killing Mirai Cell and his own final death, he falls in love with one of the other survivors, they get hitched, etc. And from what we've seen, none of the other survivors are really the warrior type.
Is that really what you want to say to him? "Good job saving the world, you get to keep your body. But for the rest of eternity you don't get to hold, cuddle, kiss, or make love to the person who stole your heart." That could be looked on as a form of Hell, not Heaven.

But then why did he keep his body? Same with Freeza. I'm a bit confused now.Herms wrote:When giving his goodbye speech after the Cell Games, Goku says that ordinary people and really evil folks like Cell don't keep their bodies in the afterlife.

What does the scouter say about his blood alcohol level?

That's contradictory filler. They don't keep their bodies in the manga, which we know from the comment about evil people not keeping their bodies. In fact, I think that comment's even in the anime, which makes the filler even sillier.ShonenKnife wrote:But then why did he keep his body? Same with Freeza. Good point. Never occured to me, given most of my exposure to the series is from the anime.Bussani wrote:That's contradictory filler. And then there's the Vegeta-Piccolo dialogue in the Buu saga, right before Vegeta does his big number. That more or less explicitly states that people who've done bad things don't keep their physical bodies.

They didn`t. That is pure filler. The same with anything regarding Hell, since it never showed up in the manga.ShonenKnife wrote:But then why did he keep his body? Same with Freeza. There are some simple rules:
- By default, people who died don`t have their physical bodies in the afterlife.
- However, if someone is deemed worthy of it or because they need to keep their bodies to train, become stronger and fight off some kind of menace when they return to life, thanks to the Dragon Balls, it is possible for people who died to keep their bodies in the afterlife. Who decides if they keep their bodies are the Gods of the Dragon Ball (for example, Kami and Enma).
- Those who died can go to heaven (if they are good) or to hell (if they are bad), or they can just hang out in the afterlife without actually going to heaven if they want to and if the are authorized to do so (like Goku did after the Cell games. Although the other world tournament is filler we see Goku training in the afterlife where north Kaio and East Kaio are, so he is not in heaven).
- Those who go to Hell, go there to have their memories wiped clean and be reincarnated in a different body in the mortal world.

Wait, and in the manga Babidi and the others didn't watch the fight of Goku and Buu in Hell, is that right? Gosh.
I thought Akira-sama kinda supervised the fillers too, why did he let this happen. *sadface* Oh well... it's funny how I never quite realised that and used to think that some evil guys kept their bodies in Hell simply because they were extremely evil.

The place where Goku is seen training with North Kaio in the manga is identified as Heaven in the daizenshuu. It's only in the anime that he goes to the Dai-Kaio's planet to train.

Wow. You're thinking way too deep and romantically about a manga written by a guy who avoided writing romance because he didn't know how to write romance.Thanos6 wrote:Well, what if you're the person that saved the world and your spouse/lover/life partner doesn't get to keep their body?

If it makes you feel any better, though, special favors have been granted by the Heavenly Bureaucrats before... such as letting some random dude from a backwater planet train with the Lord of the Worlds... or letting some evil guy come back from the dead to help save the universe... or the highest God of the highest Gods giving his life so that that one dude who grew up on that backwater planet could be alive again.
I doubt, "Hey, can my wife keep her body, too, so our whole family can be together?" is too much of a request at that point.

Yeah, I thought about expressing my desire to see his backstory, although I honestly believe that this was an Earthling. Before the Dog King of the World went about performing mass genocide on nearly all anthropomorphic animals on Earth (this occurred during the Freeza arc when most of the main characters were either on Namek or dead) in order to secure his position as ultimate anthro King guy, this Dog Man was the leader of La Resistance. Unfortunately, he was also the very first victim of the unscrupulous king. Enma perceived that Dog Man was worthy of keeping his body, due to his selfless (though failed) attempt to preserve his race... or races... or species. It was in Daizenshuu 72.Kendamu wrote:Obviously, that dog man did something very awesome while he was alive on Dog Man World.Gaffer Tape wrote:Yeah, in the panel where Kami-sama is being chewed out by Enma for "thinking too loud", there's a confused-looking dog/wolf/fox man with glasses lined up to be judged.

Re: Where's it said that nobody keeps their body at death?
Your story sounds a lot more entertaining than mine. I was thinking he was the royal accountant to the King who, after Piccolo Daimaou's short-yet-destructive reign of terror, balanced the budget of the world for generations to come so that the economy would be stable enough for people to be able to rebuild their cities without a second thought in case more destruction like that ever happened again (which it did happen again... a lot again).Gaffer Tape wrote:Yeah, I thought about expressing my desire to see his backstory, although I honestly believe that this was an Earthling. However, in creating such a brilliant economic scheme that didn't result in enslaving the Earth's population or high taxes, his brain shut down completely and he died right after getting his plan on paper.

Re: Where's it said that nobody keeps their body at death?
I'm sure there's a way our stories can meld, and it wouldn't even require a DC Multiverse explanation. Dog Man was an accountant to the king, which would explain why he was one of the first to find out about the king's insidious plan for anthro-genocide. Dog Man did manage to come up with a financial plan that would account for Daimao-esque destruction of property. However, he was such a genius that not even that could short circuit his brain. But that was the official line the government used to cover up his death. As such, the world at large still praised him as a hero... just as the king planned. What better way to throw people off about La Resistance than to officially memorialize the leader of La Resistance?!

Really? Then why would East Kaio be there? And I thought that the guides described heaven as a place covered in flowers? Or am I mistaken? I ask this because the place where Goku was training had zero flowers. It had trees and even a building but no flowers.Herms wrote:The place where Goku is seen training with North Kaio in the manga is identified as Heaven in the daizenshuu.
