I dunno, I really like the dubbed One Piece songs...I just kind of get tired of hearing the same singers over and over.

I wasn't too impressed. First of all I had to get it from megaupload, since apparently Funi doesn't advertise products it releases here in Australia. Then we get that boomy sound that's so overused in trailers with some text I couldn't care to read. Finally it starts playing and... It's Z. I own that shit man. Aint buying.
I'm questioning Krillin's, "Everyone's dying and I don't know how to stop it!" I think that's the equivalent of the VIZ manga line, "S...something really bad... is about to happen... an' I can't... move... can't stop it..."
Also, with Nappa's, "Now that's more like it, boy!" I think in the VIZ manga it comes out as, "There you go...! Fight like a Saiyan!"
I can place just about everything else without a problem.

Yeah, but
Saiyan Blood is sung in-character by Vegeta. I can't imagine Chris Sabat's Vegeta singing in-character and sounding good at all. It would sound nothing like the original.

I'm saying that they have the chance to use the right music for each scene and not overuse it like the Japanese version. Kai has a lot of tracks that aren't used.

No. No. No. No matter what some of us may think about the score, changing it is the
last thing FUNimation needs to do to
any anime they get their hands on (save for dubbing intros/outros).

I agree. The best thing they can do is to just leave it alone and let it stand on its own legs.

Kendamu speaks truth.
As for asking if those lines are from the japanese version, those lines may not be direct japanese translations, but probably mean exactly the same thing. They just match the mouth flaps.
Such as "keep your eyes on the battlefield, you'll only have one shot at this."
is basically the same thing as,
"don't look away, you'll miss your chance."
Which of course is better than changing conversations entirely, like how it was originally handled... twice.

I was really hoping the trailer would have shown the opening theme because I really love the Japanese intro theme for kai and if they severely change it that will really suck

Why cant we have a choice of which aspect ratio we want in order to please all the fans??? If the DVD is 16:9 then I'm most likely going with that. My wide-screen television is calling out to me to fill up the entire picture lol. Although I completely agree that 4:3 give more detail I still want it in 16:9 because it wont be like the orange bricks with cutting out heads since Toei made it suitable to fit a wide-screen television.
When Kai was remastered they kept it in 4:3, it was only in 16:9 for TV and a DVD release. The BRD kept the 4:3 aspect ratio.
Just watched the trailer and I'm like O-O~? The dub we've been waiting for has finally freaking arrived!
Purchased DBZKai on BRD!

I'm under the impression that they're dubbing the opening and ending themes like how they dubbed the opening and ending to Dragonball and how they
eventually did the same for Dragonball GT.

Because, if you're not where they have the rights to distribute their dubs, they can't legally show you their videos as they have full episodes on their account. If you are somewhere where FUNi sells their stuff, then it's on their YouTube account and you should be able to see it.

Oh, I thought because it's just a 30 second trailer, not a full episode or something.
And we pretty much get FUNi's DVDs except they're sub licensed by Madman, an Australian company.

Just posted about the Eng dub over at Amazon.
The English dub we've been waiting for has finally arrived!, April 2, 2010
By Erick P. Sitter "Daimo Rukiri" (Aberdeen, SD USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Season One, Part One [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
You can watch the trailer here.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcmc5uvDgfA
From what I can tell it's finally going to be the dub we've wanted for so long! I'm very confident that they'll use the correct names for attacks and techniques, if not that's still okay as long as the dub is faithful.
Already I see how Sonny Straight has improved and finally sounds like Kuririn! And his lines are finally awesome! don't forget faithful!
If you liked stephanie nadolnys Gohan you'll be disappointed as she does not reprise her role as Gohan, which is great! 1 because no god damned kid has a raspy voice and it was just terrible to begin with, her replacement sounds like fucking Masako Nozawas Gohan!
Seans Goku even is awesome, looks like he reviewed the Japanese material as his voice sounds more Nozawaish than his ol.. AGHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Can't wait to see the dub, never liked the original dub of any of the Dragon Ball anime. Been a fan of the Japanese version since 1994 and I may for once will give a Dragon Ball dub a chance, considering it's 2010 and not the 1990s..
Oh yea, hopefully no more "It's over 9000!" more like "It's greater than 8000!"

Or, hey, we can decide whether the dub is "the DBZ dub we've all been waiting for" after we've seen (or rather, heard) the actual episodes.
I don't know about the rest of you, but other than Sonny Strait's slightly better Kuririn, I can't really tell enough about anything to make any bold judgements on the overall quality of the dub based on the trailer alone.
Kentai wrote:Son Gokuu is a fascinating character anyway, because he is - at face value, anyway - an idiot savant. The victim of violent head trauma as an infant [...] he's a simple bumpkin with a fair share of brain damage who's natural talents to work out what's wrong compensate for his broad lack of common sense. But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

True, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Still, it shows signs that it'll be better than the original dub.
I'm hoping for Genkai Dama instead of Spirit Bomb! and Kaiosama instead of king Kai, the list goes on!

I don't want to seem like an ass or anything, but that's not going to happen. Sure, the script is more accurate but the character and attack names are so "ingrained" in American DBZ fandom that they're not going to be changed.
Heck, T
ien is already confirmed as the character's name.
EDIT: Just realised you said "Genkai Dama" when it should be "Genki Dama".

I really wish they'd use Tenshinhan, but the rest of their silly names I could tolerate.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Didn't they use Teinshinhan in the Dragon Ball dub?
