Thats like denying the existance of GT, because you don't believe it's part of the Dragonball storyline. There is a first game in the series, and yes it is pretty bad, and denying it's existance is foolish, and illogical.'lo legends wrote:(2 and Buu's Fury...there is no 1. I repeat, there is no 1).
True, people do expect a lot more from a PS2 game, and some a good deal more than they should. Although I wouldn't say you could 'get away' with games that are half as good on the GBA compared to their console counter parts, as much as I would that they make games with a smaller scope.'lo legends wrote:I think it is because this is a PS2 game. You expect a lot more out of a PS2 game. You can get away with "beat 'em up" style gameplay that is a lot more shallow on the GBA because you can't do as much with the GBA.
A small but decent fraction of the games on the GBA are relatively good, but you kind of have to understand that the Gameboy Advance just isn't a big time console with the power to dish out everything you want, and it still using cartridges can only take it so far; even so, developers have done great things with the console, just look at Fire Emblem- that game makes many console titles of the same style look like cheap knock offs... Looking at the Legacy of Goku series, One was a dissapointment, but Two was quite the game... even if you do want to knit pick that in order to level up you've got to fight the same monsters over and over again (ever play console RPGs? It's a common trend.)
At the end of the day LOG2, and Buu's Fury are probably some of the best Action/Adventure (with a dash of rpg-ness,) titles you'll play on the GBA for awhile, even with their flaws. It makes me think though, even as strong of games as they are, people still pick out flaws... and it makes me think, is it possible DragonBall Z isn't entirely suited for the genre it's been placed in on the GBA? I think it's just fine, and that fans are just overly critical... and shouldn't be, since these are likely the best DBZ gaming years we'll see for a long time. (It's more than likely that the gaming end of DBZ will run out soon, and we wont see any more titles based on it; when that day comes, I'll be glad I've got my LOG games, and my Budokais!)
Using the power nothing. The "power" you refer to, is just the ability to render the highest quality graphics, and sound the machine can possible do... Even with the absolute best graphics, Sagas would still be bad, and people would still be in an uproar about it; likely slightly different in nature though.'lo legends wrote:However, using the power of the PS2 Sagas could have been a very great game.
The only way that there could have been to make Sagas better, was to either give it to another developer (Dimps comes to mind,) or keep pushing back the release date to refine it; which neither have happened.
Ironicly... this reminds me of the debate about B3's DU being partially unfinished, and that got me thinking about how short of time Sagas released under, and the thought that Sagas could be Atari's excuse for the unfinished DU. If that were the case, fans are pretty pissed to say the least.
