New PSP Game: Dragonball Z Tenkaichi Tag Team

In its latest issue, Weekly Shounen Jump promised for its next issue a big feature on a new entry in a popular series. First details from that next issue have leaked out through the usual source, and it seems that there are three possibilities for what the magazine was referring to.Newly revealed in this issue are Bleach Heat the Soul 7 and Dragon Ball Tag VS.Bleach Heat the Soul 7 is a 3D PSP fighting game from Sony. It's presumably similar to its six predecessors. It will see release in 2010.Dragon Ball Tag VS is from Namco Bandai, also for PSP. Its genre is listed as "team action combat," suggesting a multiplayer fighter using the Dragon Ball cast. A release is set for 2010.Outside of these two reveals, the magazine also has another look at Tales of Phantasia Narikiri Dungeon X, a game it first revealed a few issues back. The magazine reports that Hanako Oku's "Glass Flower" will be the game's theme song.Jump's tease could have been referring to any of these, although the Tales coverage appears to be more of a "big feature" when compared to the small reveals of Bleach and Dragon Ball."

Actually just saw this pop up through some blogs, myself. Found a link to place with it, but it's also not a whole lot to go on... but as I note in the update, all the pieces are there for it to be legitimate.

Yay another fighting game on PSP, it's not like the platform has the richest library of fighters any handheld ever had... Atleast it sounds different than previous DBZ fighters.

The Japanese blogs that I use for my info also have picked up on this, so scans should come out in a few days if it actually does exist.

I hope it gets on PSN, because it cuts down load times like a beast (Shin Budokai: Another Road loads super quickly). But considering that other Namco Bandai published DragonBall game on PSP isn't... I'm not holding my breath.

I hope we see a DS port, or something since I sold my PSP. And I have no plans on getting another one. The title seems odd for a DBZ game. Could be sometype of new fighting game?

Seriously, though, a team fighter sounds interesting. Hopefully it won't have a multiplayer focus, though.

I honestly don't know what to think. The game looks a bit weird, but if it plays like the Tenkaichi games then I'll definately pick it up.

Looks like no other DBZ game in the past few years....too bad its just on the PSP. They should have a new PS3 game with a new mechanic like that.

1) Character swapping, which isn't that big a draw,
2) The CPU controlling the other guy, which would suck.

I hope I can play as all of Freeza and Cell's forms. If they're going to throw in Majin Buu, I hope I can play as all of his seven forms. That means Fat Buu, Evil Buu, Super Buu, Gotenks Buu, Piccolo Buu, Gohan Buu, and Kid Buu.

Interested in how this works? The only things that come to mind are:

The scan mentions synchronizing your timing to launch simultaneous attacks, which kinda makes it sound like there’d be a player controlling each character. Oh, and Cell mentions wireless battles, so maybe that's how you'd find partners. Though I guess that wouldn’t explain how or even if you’d play the 2-on-2 battles by yourself. Maybe they are only a feature in 2-player mode? Which would leave 1-player mode being no different than the last trillion games...
