Dragon Ball Z in 3D !?
What do you think about a possible Dragon Ball Z - 3D transfer ???
Or about a possible Dragon Ball Kai Movie in 3D ???
Or about a possible Dragon Ball Kai Movie in 3D ???
The word "KAI" means in the old North Germanic language Frisian "Kämpfer engl. Fighter" respectively "Krieger engl. Warrior"!

Re: Dragon Ball Z in 3D !?
Of course. With special software, 2D movies can be made into 3D movies. Whether these 3D movies use the modern clear glasses or the old re and blue glasses is a mystery to me, though.
I'm sure if you put put in some time on Google to learn how to make a 3D movie you can find out about all these types of things. Maybe you could even rip episodes off your DVDs onto the computer and make your own 3D DBZ episodes.

What do you mean by "3D", exactly? As in having 3D graphics and animation, or just special effects, where a certain type of glasses is required for them to be seen?

I mean the 3D where you need special glasses to watch them as in James Camerons AVATAR.Krazy Monkey wrote:What do you mean by "3D", exactly? As in having 3D graphics and animation, or just special effects, where a certain type of glases is required for them to be seen?

Personally, I'm not a fan of 3D movies, or anything of the sort, but if it could be implemented well, I'd be all for it. Of course, I'd like the option for it to not be 3D.

God I hope that never happens, I personally think all the 3D hype is pretty lame.

Same for me. You get no less of an experience watching a movie in 2D than you do in 3D. I can enjoy it all the same.piccolo-san785 wrote:God I hope that never happens, I personally think all the 3D hype is pretty lame.
I mean, I don't really care if they do have it in 3D, what with all the 3D technological hype nowadays. But frankly, I couldn't give a shit.

I want DBZ in 3D to the point where Vegeta throws a punch and it actually hits me in the face.

But, eh, I'm nonplussed about the subject. I don't think the current examples of DB anime would look too good in 3D.

I'd be all up for it, if it was the animation that's 3-D.
Re: Dragon Ball Z in 3D !?
But you guys! Pojo's Dragon Ball Z Guide had special 3D centerfolds!

I'm indifferent towards the idea, personally.

Well said. Can you just imagine the Goku vs. Perfect Cell fight in 3D? If they could show the afterimages in 3D, I think you could literally blow people's minds.Castor Troy wrote:I want DBZ in 3D to the point where Vegeta throws a punch and it actually hits me in the face.

Yeah, it would be even better if it was like the 3D attractions at Disney World. When someone fires a Kamehameha at someone, you can feel the force of the wind. When someone blows up a mountain, shards of rubble get in your hair. And then when Kuririn launches his Kienzan, a giant saw blade comes out and chops off the audience's heads.
Ah, good times.

Re: Dragon Ball Z in 3D !?
Here's a fun idea to think about: What would the drawbacks of seeing either of the DB series' in 3D be?
First I can think about are all of the times Goku or Gohan are running around without pants on and urinating in nature.
Though there's the plus of the Bulma shower/bath scenes in DB and Z, as well as Kuririn yoinking her top down for Roshi to shoot blood at the Invisible Man.

Re: Dragon Ball Z in 3D !?
I'm against it altogether. I hate the concept of 3D TV until they come out with ones that don't need the glasses, so there's that. Added to this, anything shot in 2D and later converted to 3D sucks compared to things shot in 3D (like Avatar), so I don't think DB/Z/GT would look any good if they did convert it.

Re: Dragon Ball Z in 3D !?
I don't think a 3D conversion of the original animation would look too well. I saw the Toy Story 1 & 2 3D re screenings twice, and they didn't look 3D at all. DB/Z/GT is old 2D animation--they couldn't make it 3D without making it look goofy or without it hardly making a difference at all. If they made a new feature with 3D, then perhaps. Personally, I've never seen 2D animation with 3D effects, so I don't know how good it would look. If they were gonna make a whole new movie in 3D then I say they should just make it a CGI film. But unless it's done by Pixar or something, it would probably look like the Naruto CGI special. (which doesn't look spectacular..)

Re: Dragon Ball Z in 3D !?
3D tv's are set to be on the market soon, these TV's are capable of transferring any modern picture into 3D. I'm not sure how the animation of DragonBall will hold up against this kind of transfer though. At the moment there are pubs all across Britain that feature a 3D TV with a "Sky 3D" box as a little taster, the pubs air live football matches in 3D and hand out glasses so that everyone can spectate.
These TV's are for the future and I would personally love to own one, just like we had "HD Ready" TV's we now have "3D Ready" TV's. There is an option on these TV's that allow you to switch between normal TV and 3D TV, obviously these TV's won't come in cheap so we're looking over $1500 minimum.
Relating it to DragonBall: I don't see why it wouldn't work, maybe not so with old singles but maybe with the new Kai Blu-Rays? The Playstation 3 and blu-ray players will all be compatible with it and the TV will convert the image to how it should be; your brain does the rest of the work.
There are two types of glasses you can use: the standard flimsy ones you get at the cinema, and an electronic one powered by a 6V battery (I think) which works with shutters moving really fast. It's said that the experience is better than the industrial type you get in the cinema. This is really the only way I can see DragonBall coming out in 3D, as Caster Troy said: in a way that you wan't to see Vegeta throw a punch and it would look like its about to smash you in the face.

Yeah, no. I'm with the group that severely doubts how a 25-year-old traditionally animated show would ever look any good being randomly tossed into 3D afterwards. It's fine as it is, we don't need to add random crap on top and pretend it's some magical new bullshit.
