But, the only real fanstuff that DB has is AF, Multiverse, and Abridged (and to an extent, ARDBZ). I think they may warrant an article, but nothing smaller in fandom than that.

I have to disagree with you there. Fan-comics and Fan-dubs are just things made by fans and I think the Daizex wiki should focus on official things.

I think what's going to set us apart from DB wikia is that we're going to focus on official, Japanese products. But it's up to people from Daizenshuu EX and Kanzentai on what they want to include.

I think perhaps a general page for characters like that might be a good idea. Or, better yet, just a page for re-used character designs in filler. That would be something worth chronicling IMO.

I was studying the Final Fantasy Wiki today, and I noticed that every generic enemy has a page, and a different one for each game it was in. With (hopefully) more releases of AotS style games would we do this with enemies like they do?

Nothing yet, but I'm not sure. If Mike was doing it, he'd announce it soon. And, we don't have a site just yet. So everything here is sorta just setting everything up, and figuring what we will do.

I haven't written any actual article yet, but when I get a chance, I bullet-point facts. That way, when it is time to actually write something, I can just go back to those.

I've been reading all bits of conversation and have taken a few notes here and there to share what my goal(s) and process(es) will be. This is all rough. There's a ton of logistical stuff (never mind things on the tech end) that I'll need to work out (primarily with Hujio) before this kind of stuff goes live, but rest assured -- it will, and it will rock your sock.

Anyway, excuse my rough responses and lack of complete sentences at times.

EXAMPLE - Bulbapedia
Do not misunderstand as you keep reading. I absolutely adore this site, and think that a ton of it would serve as great reference points. One issue is the "dub" focus (for lack of a better phrase); this has more to do with the singular, coordinated, and consistent effort from Nintendo to keep "A SINGLE VERSION" of the franchise in existence for each language. DragonBall doesn't have that. I don't see us having an issue there, though, since we'll be going with the Daizenshuu EX / Kanzentai style guides from the get-go. The style guide for names, etc. will be provided ahead of time. We've already had this discussion, so I don't see any reason to harp on it further.

STYLE STUFF - Family Names
Not entirely sure. Might lean toward western order with capitalized last name...? Or is that too strange for general fandom? Probably just western order (for example, "Daisuke Gôri"), with rare exceptions such as "Son Goku", where it's next-to-never written in western order anywhere (similar to "Monkey D. Luffy")

TECH ISSUE - Soft Launch
I would want to do a slow roll-out to certain members once installed. We already know we can bridge phpBB3 for the member base, so that part isn't an issue. Is this a possibility, though? This allows us to get it off the ground without a bazillion people overwriting each other's stuff left and right while we're just trying to do the basics at first. Slow and steady wins the race.

LOGISTICS - Article Templates
Start with one article per main topic (one character, one video game, one set of home releases, one in-universe item, etc.). Use that to develop the kinds of templates to use for those types of articles, and get used to collaborating within those template structures.

CONTENT - Types of Articles
I see no problem with having authoritative, educational, and interesting articles on anything involving the franchise, including fan-works. We can be more liberal with our definition of "notable" than other websites and wikis since... well... we're not them. Someone want to write an article about Wuken's Suushinshuu? I say go for it. It will make for more-comprehensive articles when you can deep-link to something about a particular fansite or major fandom event/work. I don't see how you can even begin to argue against their inclusion. The more information, the better.

ADMINISTRATION - Edit Wars / "Fixes"
Not concerned with "corrections" from other sects of fandom; it will be clear enough just by visiting the article(s), and if it's not, they'll be forced to register for the forum/wiki before they can even make any changes to anything, which will re-enforce what the goal is; the barrier to entry is just high enough so that it's not an issue

And don't forget we're going to want some solid designers on hand...

Yeah, we really need to find some time to sit down and really go over some of the logistics of this whole thing. I know we've been meaning to do it, but we just haven't gotten around to it with our schedules, or we simply forget. I do agree that we should take our time and do it right. It's not like our content is going anywhere. However, there are some tech concerns I have, but it's hard knowing how legitimate my concerns really are without knowing about the back end of things. But that's all stuff we can figure out later. I guess just shoot me a PM or an e-mail whenever. We might as well get the ball rolling on some of it, right?

Ya' know, you folks don't need to keep asking this. Is it going to roll-out overnight? No. Will it happen? We're not just kicking back and wasting time for the Hell of it by discussing it and coming up with the technical and logistical arrangements for it, that's for damn sure.

The current Dragonball wiki is horrible. A lot of facts on there are based around dub revisionisms. They use the dub names, dub attacks and dub dialogues on all the pages.

I'm of the mindset that no FUNimation things even need be mentioned at all unless it's necessary for full understanding of whatever article. Yes, I understand many of us happen to live in territories where FUNimation happens to distribute the show, but why should they get mentioned instead of the Mexican dub? The French dub? The Cantonese dub?

Maybe if we don't mention it it'll just go away.

This would be the most awesome thing ever.
