Yeah, pretty much sums the show up right there.

Being a native English speaker, it's obvious to me that "Let's do it" (emphasis placed on the "it") is not how a native speaker of English would say that phrase; it sounds incredibly awkward. Now, if the song put emphasis on the second syllable, so, "Let's do it", it would not have been changed for FUNi's version. But since the song has the emphasis on the third syllable, there was nothing FUNi could do but simply change the line completely.
I see, well that makes complete sense - thanks.
I disagree, I think when it comes to singing, people are generally more lenient on which syllable can be emphasized. It's all dependent on the rhyming scheme and the beat.

Probably for two reasons having nothing to do with syllable emphasis:

1) Little boys would make tons of little "Haha! They're doing it," jokes. I know from experience.

2) It makes the phrase "Dragon Soul" fit into the song a ton more. Before it was like "Random Shounen this and that," throughout the lyrics and then, without warning or reason, "Dragon soul!!!!" was tacked on at the end.

Well I suppose that makes more sense.
Actions have reactions so don't be quick to judge, you may not know the hardships that people don't speak of.

Yeah, you're really lighting the world on fire, aren't you?

Well let's see, I've voiced over 70 different characters on 30 different shows, and have made my entire living for the past 7 years doing voices for animation only, with no residuals, and my income has ranged in the high 5 figures for a number of years at purely an hourly rate. So apparently, a lot of producers want to give me a lot of money to do what I do. While I am no A list actor, I make my living purely with my talents. Not many people can say that, particularly dub actors. Now answer my question.

Mr. Schemmel, as great as it is to have someone involved with the series, and as much as I do respect you, this kind of discussion is something that's probably better done through PM's.

(Not that I don't respect Penguintruth. You're very open about your opinions, and I respect that. You know the mods will probably be here soon, though ;) )

Welcome to the boards, Sean. A pleasure to have you here, for how ever long you want to stay. Glad I can finally say a few words to you (as I lack Facebook, and have never been to a con).

Personally speaking, I loved your rendition of Dragon Soul. It's not word for word accurate, but it keeps the beat very well, and sounds great. Finding out you did a few musical bits by hearing several humorous parodies brought quite a smile to my face, but also made the decision to use you for the dubbed opening somewhat less surprising.

It was nice to finally get official lyrics, those Youtube ones were obviously off at points (We CAN'T find paradise sounded a bit depressing for a DB opening, lol).

Shhh! Don't say things like that! This could be very educational for the fandom. If we can fight and debate amongst ourselves, surely there can be a debate involving people who are actually... involved!

Oh crap, you're right! And besides....this is really juicy! *takes notes/screencaps* :P

But seriously....if I didn't say it, the mods would have....and probably will again.

Mr. Schemmel, your question is why, if you're untalented, do you keep getting hired? Such a silly question. Haven't you ever questioned why a person you think has no talent keeps getting work? Obviously plenty of people do think you have talent. And if that's true, then what I say should be of little consequence.

But hey, congratulations on all the work you're getting. I haven't really heard you in a lot of roles outside of DBZ and Ninja Nonesense, myself, but I'm aware you do get hired with some frequency.

Well I would hate for threads to be closed and possibly even Sean being suspended for getting into back and forths like this, let's just hope that they discuss it via PM's.

I want Sean to be around here so those of us (who are respectful) can freely talk with him about neat stuff that isn't responding directly to bashing!!

Are we really believing this is Sean with little to no evidence? Or is there evidence I'm unaware of? Just asking.

Well, Sean confirmed on his fanpage he joined, and that is the exact name of his Youtube account (beat to the punch).

Besides that fact, I'm also curious, what is the biggest difference, in your view, between working on an adaptation of a song, and a parody of a song?

Re: Big Momma

I know, but I hope they don't.

I am both someone who has been quite upset over the years at the products FUNimation has put out but am hopeful for Kai and am an aspiring performer. Therefore, I respect both penguintruth's and Mr. Schemmel's opinions and positions. And I think it would be quite enlightening to see if they could have a rational discussion about it. At least, that's my wish!
