This. If there is a dub available on an Anime DVD and the voices are good and the script is accurate on it, I'll watch it over the original version. There is nothing wrong with me.Xyex wrote: The notion that something can not be "properly enjoyed" if it's not presented in its original format is absurd. As is the idea that there's "no reason" to watch a dub if there's a sub available (as well as the reverse). It screams of bias, arrogance, and ignorance, as far as I'm concerned.
If an accurate re-dub surfaced, would you watch it?

The voices are good, the scripts accurate, I like it.
Everyone is going to have their own opinion over it, since considering this is the closest thing we're ever going to get as in a good dub.

Xyex has a tendency to state the same opinions as I do but in a way that is way more logical and makes way more sense than however I would've put it.

Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Because that's how it was made? I understand you're trying to be cute, but it comes off as dumb when you're throwing words such as "japanophile" around. I believe someone made a comment about not wishing to watch a dub of The Simpsons, a show that is made in English.Xyex wrote:Why would you watch it in a foreign language when there's a version of it in your own language? I never see any argument for it besides "Hi, I'm a Japanophile!"

Re: If an accurate re-dub surfaced, would you watch it?
Japanophile? I dunno, am I anglophile if I can't watch US and British series in my native language because dubs sucks?
For example, joke in english isn't same in czech, joke in japanese isn't same in english, that's one of many reasons I'm watching only original dubs in native language that the movie or series is made in.
If I were japanophile, I'll watch even Star Wars in Japanese, but honestly, Japanese dub of star wars is rather hilarious for me.
Dubs simply are not working and also I'll get a different view of character when I listen to his original voice.
I pretty much like Japanese voice for Vegeta, but don't understand why he sounds like some hysterical and chain smoker in English dub, in German dub as old train conductor.....
Simple reasons for watching originals! Voices of caharacters are chosen by original author or director and casting team of the series, which means that these voices are original and how they should be, because those people who are making the series wanted their characters to sound like that. They have original script and lines written for the characters in their native language, which means that the characters are animated for that language. Also, each language have it's own phrases, jokes etc. and with it's translation the original meaning or point can be lost or altered (altered also because of how the mouth is moving).
And only thing the dub lover can come up with it is, you all are japanophiles!!! That's a little pathetic

You missed his point. He wasn't making an argument. He was parodying the arguments that swing the other way. Basically, they're all full of it, pro-sub arguments or pro-dub arguments. In my earlier posts I proved that I can poke holes in every one of them.MCDaveG wrote:And only thing the dub lover can come up with it is, you all are japanophiles!!! That's a little pathetic

No worries. I personally don't care who watches what version of what. It's really none of my business whether somebody gets more enjoyment out of this or that. It's just a damn cartoon. It's not like people are debating over nuclear disarmament.

If Christopher Sabat was barred from the recording booth? Yeah, I'd watch it.

Of Z itself? Probably not, series is too big for me to bother watching 291 episodes all over again.
Kai, on the other hand... yeah, I'm watching the dub of that. And it's great, Kaio's voice aside.
