You need your eyes check:

1. Sean doesnt "pay homeage to the Japanese original" He took many liberties with the melody and his vocal quality is nothing like the original.

I was asked to sing it by Funimation. Sean decided to record a version himself. At first, Funimation thought it would be cool to use his. So they put that on the DVD. But then I think they decided that mine had more commercial appeal, so they used it for the broadcast. They just asked me to tweak the vocal to give it a bit more grit. My original was a cleaner tone like the original.

Sean's version is awesome. I'm just glad to have gotten my version used in some way!

Hi,
I'd like to point out that I did not use auto tune when I recorded my version of this song. I believe the autotune was added later for musical effect. Please note that the effect does not occur on the verses or the opening first chorus. I am a classically trained musician, and have years of ear training and singing experience. But if you don't like it because you don't like my singing, that's fine, just stop giving me crap about the auto tune. It wasn't my choice, but I like it.

Yes I was trying to sing in the style of the original japanese singer. I was trying to honor that. If you want to hear how I really sing, goto myspacecom forward slash seanschemmel and listen to the track "Oh sister". It is me singing with my sister. No auto tune. Also no auto tune on the other tracks on that page too. 'Nuff said.

Sean is right though people really need to just stop giving him shit on the auto tune, in my personal opinion I think he did great with or without the auto tune, its just a song people, learn to just enjoy any version thats out there.

I find it sad that people would hate on everything he does mainly because they don't like the dub of DBZ actually. I've seen so many people hate on so many people working for FUNimation simply because of the DBZ dub. It's really sad.

This is an interesting video I stumbled upon. It mashes up the two versions of dragon soul. While obviously not fantastic because it wasn't professionally produced, it does sound cool to me, because they took the parts that Sean sung well, and the parts Vic sung well and did a duet thing and it makes me think that had this been done professionally it would have been awesome.

Well, I'm afraid I must respectfully disagree. I know a solid group of fans prefer the Faulconer score, and that's fine, it had its moments....but overall I was not particularly fond of Bruce Faulconer's work. I think it's for the best that they used the original music and dubbed the songs, as it represents a dub that's infinitely more faithful to the source material.
