Ah. I always find it funny when he seemingly purposefully does something to contradict liberties he didn't approve of (like DBO compared to most of GT, for instance).
Yeah, I'm against calling him "Mark" in DBZ Kai because that's not his name in the Anime and to call him such would be inaccurate.

I agree. I don't think it would be "inaccurate," but it was come up with much later, and it certainly wasn't in the script for the shows or in the manga, so it really has no place in either of those things. Now, if there was a new special, a la the JSAT, I'd be fine with them sticking it in there, no matter when it took it place.

Yeah, keep the Mark name out of the dubs unless the original happens to slip it in there. That would be like re-dubbing the 90's cartoon and calling Wolverine 'James Howlette' from time to time.

I'd rather they call him Mark over "Satan Hercule". Not only is it at least accurate, it's also not simultaneously changing Videl's name to "Videl Hercule".

Knowing Funi, they'll say that Mark H is Mr. Satan's real name....

Hercules is his first name. It doesn't affect Videl's name at all.

I still call him Hercule, since I like the dub...

I doubt he knew what Mr. Satan was called in the dub.

Are you sure? I thought that he was "Satan Hercule" in the uncut dub.

But the dub used Mr Satan (if you bought the uncut DVDs).

Nope, he was "(the H-word) Satan" in the uncut DBZ dub, they even had Gohan say his full name in the Buu era. Besides, they call him Mr. Satan in the uncut dub, so logically it wouldn't make much sense if his first name was Satan.

Sure it would since family names come first in Japan. Granted, it still wouldn't make sense since he's heavily implied to not have any surname as surnames are outdated in the Dragon World, but in that context, ignoring everything else, the Satan would still be first.

Not in FUNi's eyes, though. They use the names "Bulma Brief" and "Trunks Brief", so it would be "Hercule Satan" and "Videl Satan". I think it's stupid that they remove the only real surname in the Dragon World, and then go and add a bunch that they made up themselves. :x

I guess technically they've used "Son Goku" before, but only a couple times, so I don't think it counts. Though I find it odd that the cast credits for Kai use all dub names, except for Goku; we get "Goku" for the English cast, and "Son Goku" for the Japanese cast. :?

But it would make things consistent with "Son Gokuh", "Son Gohan", and "Son Goten". Though, I'd imagine that Toriyama would only write Asian style names in that order.

Indeed, and Mr. Satan himself (and most all DB characters) is clearly not meant to be Japanese.

But when most anime are dubbed, they switch it to the Western scheme. Like how Yusuke is called Urameshi Yusuke in the Japanese version, while he's Yusuke Urameshi in the dub.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

The show doesn't take place in Japan, just like One Piece (which uses the eastern order even in the dub).
