So, talking to Taku in chat has lead to a possible idea of what we'll be getting here. According to him, the Playdia game was about an hour long. Wasted Wisher said in the original post about the new animation that it was about 30 minutes worth, which certainly isn't enough to animate the FMV game from the ground up again. So, more than likely, this is to be a remake of the original NES game, with brand new animation thrown in for some FMV cutscenes.
I can live with that.

The original had some alternate endings with different ways that Hatchyak was killed. It'd be pretty awesome if they had alternate endings in which each of the five leads (Gokû, Gohan, Trunks, Vegeta, and Piccolo) got to be the one to finish him off.

YES.
GOD YES.
YES GOD YES!!!
I fuckin' LOVE that game. Best DBZ RPG on the NES. (Yeah I'm probably the only one happy about this.)
I do love me some CARD BATTLAN.
Edit: Oh snap this is going to be a Harukanaru Densetsu sequel/ Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans remake!

Well, it's been 2 years now and considering how often DB games get released.......
Heh, think what you want.
I'm just glad to know
Burst Limit 2 is currently in development, and is going to have fully animated 2D cut-scenes.

What was that you were saying, Rory?

I never was a big fan of Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans. I might enjoy it more if I actually get to interact with it, though, instead of just watching it.

That is awesome. I'm just worried about voice performances.

I'm actually glad that it'll be on a handheld. This means that I can play it anywhere for as short or as long as I want to! Also, if it's a 3DS game, I can play it in 3-D! Woohoo!

Yeah, for the most part , the story made most DBZ movies look like masterpieces.

I'm a bit scared. When Hujio and Mike announced this one the show, the new animation, I laughed to myself saying, it's the OVA, Kai!

'Should'? This isn't a matter of moral importance or anything. You either buy the product under the creators conditions or you don't. Plain and simple.
All I meant was, the US has wanted this game for SO long and if they are oging through all the trouble to physically redraw the entire thing [30 minutes or so] put it on the 3 consoles [or as well as the handheld] and make WAY more money off of it. We all know they love making money.
People have been complaining we get the same game and same story over and over, BAM! theres the solution.

Jokes aside, this is freaking AMAZING news! If this is true...then it'll suck cause I'll have to dip in for a 3DS. However, here's hoping for some kind of PSP release!

This game doesn't sound like something that would recieve its own release. So it could be just a bonus in another product.
Bandai's been doing that recently, Shenron No Nazo in DS2, and a couple of their recent PSP Tales games have had retro throwbacks.
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

I don't think they would draw up THAT much brand new footage just as a bonus to a new game.
They could have kept this a console game and while remaking it; make ANOTHER new villian and had another new ''movie'' type situation.

Count me in the party that's bummed this is going to be released on a handheld. I like to play video games while sitting comfortably and looking at my nice big HDTV, and being hunched over a handheld and straining my eyes to look at a tiny little screen is the exact opposite of that.

Props to Nintendo and Sony for doing so well on handheld devices but when i see a nice game or a game htat could have been much better had it been on a console, i feel as though it was a waist and they didn't meet its feel potential for the most part.
And on a basic marketing level, releasing something on 2 or 3 consoles must be better than just one haldheld right? Especially one not even out yet, assuming they are doing this for the 3DS.

That's not how you're supposed to use those, man.
