ZOE style in the sense that you can never become unlocked from your opponent it seems. There's one part in video 2 where Cell makes a slight move, and Goku automatically moves the exact same move to keep in the same tracking field.Xyex wrote:It looks like ZoE DBZ style, and it looks awesome. Anyway, you sure those are the release dates? I was hearing October for the release of Sparking! and November for Budokai Tenkaichi... Strange that the JPN release would get pushed back 2 months with no change to the American...

Heh, yeah, I can't wait to play as Baata, Guldo.. maybe even Kiwie!
I really hope they have most of the never-again-in-a-fighting-game characters, because Sparking seems really promising.

"Destiny"... people claim by force what they desire, wreak havoc upon others in order to acquire it... and they call it "destiny".

It seems that "Ultimates" have at least two levels - Cell used an apparently weaker Kamehameha and used 50% of his energy bar, then Goku replied with Ultra Mega OMG Uber Kamehameha and used all of his energy.
Than again, I think drawing conclusions at this point wouldn't be a sensible thing. The game seems to be at an eraly alpha stage, no music, bad lip-synching, shabby camera...
I wodner though, will we see any Oozaru battles? They wouldn't work well in a game like Budokai (which Final Bout proved, then again it's not the best example...), but I could see it here.

It's party time, Ginyu style!
IGN's preview mentioned 'giant monkey' so I think it's safe to assume that Oozaru will play a gameplay role (and they finally can do it and have it make sense, considering how large the areans seem to be).Fuujin wrote:I wodner though, will we see any Oozaru battles? Personally, I'm really intrested in the idea of 'What if' storylines. Budokai 3 touched on that a bit, but it'd be great to have lots of them. IGN's preview mentioned 'What if Freeza beat Goku?', which is a great example.

It's already been confirmed that there will be a Eurpoean version.
And so far characters confirmed are the entire Ginyu Force, all the Androids (does that include the movie ones?), all the Saiya-jins (again, I wonder if this includes the movie ones (Broly, Paragus, and Turles being the only ones I can think of), and while I don't think Chaotzu is actually listed anywhere is confirmed it's pretty much given I think. Plus, of course, Janemba. I'm seriously looking forward to this game, especially after seeing the game play videos. ^^

As far as I know, they never counted transformations as separate characters in the other games (they counted fusions though, but I'd accept that). So, hopefully 60 characters is REALLY 60 totally different characters. It's not that big of a stretch anyway. I mean, Budokai 3 had like 40 characters. If you throw in neglected characters and movie characters, and possibly even characters from DragonBall or GT, you can easily reach 60.
At the bottom of the first page of screenshots on IGN, there's a picture of SSJ Goku fighting SSJ Vegeta. Then in the screen next to it, they're in their normal forms. So let's just hope that's taking place during the same battle.

IGN's updated their pictures section. Some nice stuff. Piccolo, yay!

Voice Dubbing?
Sorry if this has been asked before. But I've been out of the DBZ gaming loop for the past 5 years or so, and am not familiar with any of the American versions.
My simple question is whether or not the American games are usually dubbed, and if so, is there a language option for Japanese instead?
I'm interested in purchasing the "Sparking!", but would rather buy the Japanese version..if only for the original voices.

Re: Voice Dubbing?
As far as I know, all North American versions of the games are dubbed. I have Budokai 2 and 3, and both are dubbed, with no options for the Japanese audio track.jochickabee wrote:Sorry if this has been asked before. No news about the audio track for the North American version of Budokai Tenkaichi though. It'd be nice if they included a dub AND the original japanese voices.

I'd say that there's little to no chance of the U.S. release having a dual language option. Europe may see a dual language version, like their B3 Special Edition, though. So that leaves subbies pretty much SOL unless you know anything about PS2 modchipping to play the import JPN version. The best chance for North Amer. fans to play it with the original voices would probably be to hope for a release of a gamecube version, then play the import with pro action replay or freeloader.

But that's an RPG.And just for the record, there is a game that has more than 60 characters - Namco x Capcom. It will featrure 100 Namco characters, 100 Capcom characters and at least three new characters.
If we get ALL of the Androids... does that include Ha-chan?
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

I know it's kind of an asshole elitist thing to say but one reason I don't play the Budokai games is that I don't like the voices. This is not the place to discuss why, but I will say that they'd have my money with Sparking if there was a dual language option.
Oh, and if they called is Sparking instead of the retarded Budokai Tenkaichi.

Gamespot mentioned 80 characters (Chiaotzu included), so I shudder to think who they might be. "Main" DBZ characters are around 45, so that means 35 characters from GT, movies and possibly DB.
Unless of course, transformations count as unique characters.
Chiaotzu is definitely in the game, the producer said it so in his interview in Gamespot. I wonder if Yajirobe is going to be in it.
The game looks okay, but I think that blast attacks need a little work. Cell and Goku fired around 5 kamehamehas, yet I think none reached its target.

My reasoning on why they named it Budokai Tenkaichi:Mizugi wrote:Oh, and if they called is Sparking instead of the retarded Budokai Tenkaichi.
- "Sparking"'s meaning probably isn't as widely known in North America to a more general audience (I'll admit that I didn't know what it was, actually, until I read here
- They have "Tenkaichi Budokai" backwards so that "Budokai" comes first, perhaps making it seem like another Budokai game (even though it isn't), and make it more familiar to the buyers of the previous games. If they put "Budokai" last, it might look a little odd, assuming my reasoning is true. I mean, you wouldn't call the next game "4 Budokai". It'd be "Budokai 4".
So maybe they just turned it backwards for that.
Those are just my ideas. I still don't actually LIKE the title.
ngnikolaos: Gamespot said 60 characters, not 80. I think you misread the 6 as an 8. From Gamespot:
"We're told that the roster will include 60 characters, including relatively recent additions to the DBZ universe, such as Janemba, and old favorites that haven't seen the Budokai treatment yet, like the diminutive Chaiotzu."
Also from Gamspot:
"In addition, character models will now be modified during fights as each character takes damage. For instance, Goku started the fight with a relatively clean uniform, but at the end of the fight (in which he barely managed to defeat Buu), he was noticeably bruised up, and his outfit had numerous tears and scrapes in it."
That sounds cool. Wish they had a screenshot to back it up.

Yeah, but to me it's just another instance of not being faithful to source material. Yes, it'll get name recognition but I see it as a disrespect to fans of the original rather than the dub.Leotaku wrote:My reasoning on why they named it Budokai Tenkaichi:

This is infact another Budokai game, my friends.
Gamespot confirmed this by saying stuff like "next in the Budokai franchise."
And Donny Clay made a reference to Budokai 3 a lot, and kept saying "fans of the original Budokai games.
Anyway, I have another reason for Budokai Tenkaichi and Sparking!'s names.
Sparking! is used in the Japanese game because it is fashionable in Japan to act Western, (or at least it is at the minute, apparently.)
This works both ways, for Budokai Tenkaichi also. They got it the wrong way around because they suck. And also, Budokai means Tournament, and Tenkaichi means World's Best. (Roughly)
So guys, Dragon Ball Z Tournament World's Best is coming November '05. Be there, or be square!
