GenerationII wrote:Alright guys, looks like we're back in business. Darkhawk get to work on making an animatic on everything that Scarz has posted thus far, making sure to use the written camera notes. Scarz, make sure you post those, I'll have to look at them. caejones, let's hear some more themes. And, will somebody bring me my damn latte?
It's great to see this continue, but Generation II I must ask, were you just waiting for someone else to post an update on the project before you would step in?

I want you guys to succeed and since you are directing this, Generation II, you need to keep the ball rolling, not Big Momma. I'm not saying be a badgering jerk but as the chief you need to motivate people who are working along with you. It's simple management.
And you owe it to Scarz, Darkhawk5, and everyone else related to this project to at least come up with some completed piece of work before you give up since they have already essentially donated their time and effort for this project and ultimately for you. (I'm not implying that you have given up yet but I feel the notion should be explored now before a lack of motivation does halt the project)

And not that it's an issue now but if someone is holding up the project significantly for whatever reason, don't hesitate to find a replacement or pick up the workload for the time being.

I mean if everyone does the best job they can on this project, who knows what the future could potentially hold?

For the record, while I agree with you, a lot of us have been really busy, including GII, and we all understand that. That, and some of us have been chatting on Skype a little here and there.

Still...I agree. But I think GII is doing a good job of that.

Well that's good to hear.
I realize that I am coming off as a hypocrite seeing as how I have no part in this project yet here I am trying to shape it. I just want to put it out there that I can help if you ever need me.

My equipment situation is improved. Tried starting on a song based around Vegeta appearing to fight Xicor, but somehow lost focus really quickly. Wondering how to rework original Ryuushinkai theme so it actually makes sense with what's happening...
With any luck, this weekend will help me immensely. Maybe I can have _something_ by the end of the week... though it may be a higher quality test than the original batch I threw up when it first started.

Okay guys. I'm leaving to my sister's house on the third of July and I'll be back on the thirtieth. Since she lives in VA and I live in CA, this is quite a big deal. I WILL have internet access while I'm there, but I won't have access to my own programs and files, so I can still come here, check on updates, and look at what you guys post. I'm going to put it in your guys' hands to be at least somewhat productive during my leave of absence. Thanks guys.

I'm going to be off school next week since we're just finishing midterms, I'm learning website design and I'm feeling pretty comfortable with it, if someone who is artistically inclined (actually knows what looks good and what-not and can make the images to be used) would feel kind enough to make a layout, I can start work when I have some free time. It wont be the best website out there, but I can get a working web page going. I know we're still REALLY early in the process of doing this, but the longer I have to work on the page the better it can/will be.

So if this sounds like something you guys want to do, tell me here, and if you can design the layout PM me, email me, Skype/MSN, anyway to get in contact with me works fine.

PS. Yay I might be useful. :D

PPS. I won't be able to help with hosting or anything though...

Just out of curiosity, what exactly has been done so far and what is left to go?

From what I see these following things have been started (correct me if I miss something) :
-several pages of storyboard drawn
-songs have been picked out
-minimal animation testing

What's left to go:
-finish storyboard (perhaps finish concept for storyboard)
-major amount of animation
-syncing songs to video

Where is the project in its entirety? I know it's based off of Toyble's AF but that's not entirely reliable for translation into animation (just look at the Dragonball manga vs anime for example). There needs to be a fully explained guide set for every second of eventual animation. Has it been written down or is it in Generation II's head still? I'm asking this only because if it isn't set firmly then a lot can go wrong.

I guess my last question is, is this still work for the opening?

As it stands, I think we're currently working on getting the opening animated first, but kinda prepping for other stuff so it'll be more smooth if/when we get to it.
Which implies this will wind up taking longer than the manga has to come out, Hehee...

*Is interested to see how the scripting is adapted* XD

Did we ever decided on a song for the OP? I think that would probably help out a bit :P

A script is usually drawn up, agreed upon, and visualized by all members of a project before any other work is begun, even for something short and lacking dialog like an opening animation.

I believe this would be Generation II's job. I would recommend pming the script to everyone working on the project. I assume you have written it already, most likely you just need to expand on it.
The time limit for each scene must be exact [e.g. (Goku spars with Tenshinhan: sec. 7- sec. 13), along with setting etc.] but don't dictate every little detail like where each person is standing or who is in the background, unless it is vital. That's usually left to the artist.
Rule of thumb: if someone who hasn't read the script can visualize what you wrote then you're ready to send draft #1 out (and if it's good then there will be additional drafts). Oh, and you can do all this on microsoft word or even notepad so everyone should expect this done before you get back from your sister's. It should only take a couple of hours at most, depending on how long the opening is.

How many seconds is the opening going to be?

So it turns out I haven't recorded anything (The one bit of audio I did obtain over the weekend came courtesy my sister... and unless we need the sound of waves, I don't think that'll help much.).

So I'll faux-update by kinda playing checklist with the list that Generation2 gave us for general soundtrack stuff so far.
I'll italicize all the notes that are mine.

GenerationII wrote:Okay, to our esteemed music department, I present a real task. Please come up with music following these descriptions/titles. The names given are (mostly) in chronological order.

(This may include things that you've already made)
Introduction Theme (done)
Freeza's Past (Probably need to re-record this, even though I kinda like the first draft, for sake of loopability. When I looked through for places to easily stretch it, the echo on the bells turned out to make that almost impossible. :( )
Flashback Theme (! I forget about this one. I'll get on that one stat!)
Orange Star University (Basically done. My recording glitched for a bit on the third or fourth loop, but I think that can be fixed without having to rerecord.)
The Great Saiyaman's Theme (keep it loopable)
Papayaman Theme (Short; soemthing like fanfare)
Xicor's Theme (Ok, so what I have for this is focused on dramatic buildup, and while it could stand to have percussion added, I think I'm more concerned about the sound of it. (BTW, I think the mp3s on my website work in firefox, but not IE. Not sure why.).)
Attack of Xicor! (So, is this mainly Xicor's first attack on Goten, but open to later reuse? I'm a bit worried about setting it up to work with timing, particularly with regards to dynamics... but we'll see how that goes, I suppose.)
The Battle With Xicor (Sorta started on a version of this, but for some reason I'm having trouble continuing with it.)
Hell/The Other World
Goku's Dragon Realm
Closing Theme (I think we've got this. A decent vocalist would be awexome. Which reminds me that I should probably ask someone like Herms to proofread the lyrics...)

And if you can think of anything else, do it. This (plus the other tracks you've made so far) will make up the score so far.
Going to work on that flashback track, now.

I'm not sure if anyone else has seen this, but I found this custom Dragonball AF statue on Japan Yahoo Auctions:

(I checked the rules & saw nothing about auction sites being linked, but if a mod feels it's appropriate to delete then please feel free.)

I assume this is based on Toyble's AF series, but I haven't read it yet so don't know for sure. Either way, it's a nice custom. Has anyone else seen any figures from fan manga? I'm curious as to what else is out there.

That character (Goku?) hasn't actually appeared in the AF fan comic, yet.

The auction site says it's a statue of a "fantasy SS5 Goku". That design for Super Saiyan 5 doesn't match the one Toyble has used for bonus artwork and whatnot, so it's just based on AF rumors in general, and not Toyble's fan manga.

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't sure if a 3D figure would help with this project, but I guess this particular one can't. Apologies

I don't know about the visuals, but the audio is terrible.
The music in the intro has several glitches in it, there are a lot of lengthy, really low quality "rumble" type noises, and the voice... Get a better mic, dude. -_-
The music sounds like it was recorded by putting a microphone to a speaker.
And.... I have no idea what's actually happening for most of it. It's just noise, with a random line in the middle about searching for... something (I'm assuming power levels).

Yeah, pretty-pretty sure we can compete with that.
