GT or Z?
Re: GT or Z?
Z's ending, for not being ambiguous and confusing.

Re: GT or Z?
I think I prefer GT's ending a bit more, just because Z's ending felt a bit rushed in my opinion. Whilst GT's ending was able to reminisce of what the whole show was originally about, collecting the Dragon Balls.
Just another Dragon Ball fangirl in the world.

What exactly does he say? I'm curious to know, thanks.MCDaveG wrote:Actually it's still the same ending only with Vegeta blabbering some stuff))))

Z's Kanzenban ending, for sure. The arc had passed and the last few chapters led up to a passing-of-the-torch sort of deal. Toriyama had wanted to end Dragonball for a long time by the time he got to end it. It's not like there was much of anything to wrap up, anyway.

I prefer GT's ending way more, Z's ending doesn't really feel like a proper ending to such an incredible tale as Dragon Ball. Also I kind of always thought one of Goku's children or even his granddaughter would have taken up the mantle as earth's hero.

I don't really like either. If forced to pick, though, I'd go with GT's. Even a cliche ending is better than the storyteller slamming the book shut and saying "Fuck you, I'm done, figure out the rest by yourself".

Ehh, close. In Japanese, he says: "Kakarotto miserukara naka nara zu katte sono uchi", which means something like: "Sooner or later, Kakarrot, I will show you defeat".Goku100xKamehameha wrote:"someday I will defeat you Kakarot!"

The Kanzenban ending. By no means I consider Dragonball finishing with GT.

Well me neither, but this thread is more focusing on which ending was more well done in itself isn't it?Senzu_Bean wrote:The Kanzenban ending. By no means I consider Dragonball finishing with GT.

Re: GT or Z?
Probably GT's ending. While it was cliched, it was handled much better by giving a nostalgic montage of the series rather than Z's ending, with Goku fucking off to train a Gohan clone.
The Kanzenban ending is even worse, highlighting Oob as Goku's successor (you tried that Gohan and the other two little brats, Toriyama, you sound like a fucking broken record!) and then Toriyama practically shitting on Vegeta's entire character development he'd been building up to this point with his stupid "I'll beat you Kakarrot" bullshit.

Re: GT or Z?
I liked the ending of GT much better because it made a montage of the ending and closed the story better.
With DBZ it just showed Goku flying away with Uub and that was about it and nothing more.

Re: GT or Z?
I believe what you said is backward, Z ending is just Goku flying off with Uub and then no more, GT ending.... well, it can't be explain, go see the video.hui43210 wrote:I gotta go with Z. GT's ending is just so... stupid.
Re: GT or Z?
I'm gonna go with Z.
GT didn't do it for me.
Goku flying of with Shenlong, what the hell was that about?
It's nice and symbolic and whatnot but nobody knows what is happening and if he wil ever come back.
So I don't understand why people bash on Z's ending for Goku leaving once again.
He does the same thing in GT but to another dimension for all we know.
At least we know he's still on Earth in Z's or I like to think so.

In GT, he's deader than dead and the story is explicitly over. Z's ending outright tells you "Figure out the rest yourself, I'm done."Booney wrote:So I don't understand why people bash on Z's ending for Goku leaving once again.

What info did GT bring after Z that filled the emptiness you had after the ending of Z?
I agree with the protagonist gone at the end of the series it has more weight to it.
But to me that doesn't make it a better ending.

Re: GT or Z?
See, this is where I'm mixed.
Don't get me wrong, Dragon Ball's ending is far superior to GT's in my eyes, but then it comes to Tankobon vs Kanzenban.... On one hand, I adore the notion of the torch being passed on to Oob, it's a great improvement on the original Tankobon ending, where they just take off. Yet at the same time, the Kanzenban really shoots itself in the foot with the Vegeta line. He was meant to be over his dick measuring contest with Goku, going as far to admit that Kakarot was indeed "Number One". It just seems random and completely out of character at this point for him to say that he will defeat him.
That said, GT's ending is very "meh" to me. Son defeats the final evil Dragon, and goes away with Shenlong, for.... some reason. People seem to see it as a better bookend, but it leaves more questions than answers, especially when compared to the manga's ending.
My answer seems to be a mixture of the Tankobon and Kanzenban, I can never really seem to get an answer, but if you pushed me on the spot, I'd say Kanzenban, 'cause I love the Kinto'un panel so damn much.
