Because I don't remember addressing my feelings on the subject...
...in the original version, I found it unintentionally hilarious. I doubt Sabat will pronounce Saiyan correctly, but it'll likely be just as unintentionally hilarious.

"Saiyan Blood" is cool in that kids' show sort of way (imagine that) and hilarious when adult sensibility is brought into it.
If the song is gonna be dubbed, I'd rather it not be "in-character" by Sabat. If it's done by Sabat, the song should be tweaked to a third person point of view.

Yeah you totally have a point, we're all teenagers (or older) discussing this type of thing. If I was 8 or 9 I would be totally digging Saiyan Blood as the coolest darn thing ever.Kendamu wrote:"Saiyan Blood" is cool in that kids' show sort of way (imagine that) and hilarious when adult sensibility is brought into it.
(also hurray my ignore list now has a 3rd unbearable person on it.)

Saiyan Blood is my favourite thing to come from Kai, so I doubt any dub version of the song will live up to my unreasonable expectations.

Re: Is Saiyan Blood going to "work"?
I could see it going either way. Like a previous poster pointed out, Sabat can definitely sing because he's a trained opera singer, but that Vegeta voice sounds like it would be a VERY painful voice to sing in. I think it's a win-win situation, though. If it works, that's great, no explanation needed. If it doesn't work, then it might turn out to be very funny, and Sabat is not beyond making fun of himself at all.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

You can thank MsDBZBabe for pointing this out, but here's a School Rumble ending Sabat sung for FUNimation's release. I...suspect his Saiyan Blood might sound like this. :p

Well, not completely. Sabat implied that he was instructed to sing that song a little over-the-top and goofy because it fit the animation.JulieYBM wrote:You can thank MsDBZBabe for pointing this out, but here's a School Rumble ending Sabat sung for FUNimation's release. That's a relief, that was...a very jarring performance to hear and them imagine in DBZ Kai. However it works if it's supposed to be over the top.TheBlackPaladin wrote:Well, not completely. Re: Is Saiyan Blood going to "work"?
Maybe I should have used 'something like' to clear up I didn't mean exactly like. That's him singing a silly romance song. Of course, Saiyan Blood can fit that description too, considering the character. :p

Re: Is Saiyan Blood going to "work"?
Yeah, he'd likely take a different tone in "Saiyan Blood", but that School Rumble song proves that he can sing in something close enough to Vegeta's voice.
Re: Is Saiyan Blood going to "work"?
It's a shame the song wasn't called Namekian blood or that voice would have been an even closer fit.

Because it's supposed to be...

Not really horrible, but it's supposed to be "bad" and cheesy.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:Supposed to be horrible? Why would they do that?Metalwario64 wrote:Because it's supposed to be...

Gotcha. Kinda like "Saiyan Blood". Maybe Mr. Sabat singing it could work.Metalwario64 wrote:Not really horrible, but it's supposed to be "bad" and cheesy.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:Supposed to be horrible? Why would they do that?Metalwario64 wrote:Because it's supposed to be...

Re: Is Saiyan Blood going to "work"?
Actually, I've been trying very hard to find it, but Chris Sabat sang in traditional opera style for an insert song for Shin Chan, in the episode, "The Cucumber-Sucking Monster." As this insert is FUNimation's original song and not a dubbed version of a Japanese song, you won't find the Japanese version (because it does not exist) anywhere.
OKAY, found it on FUNimation's channel. Song starts at 19:50 and then again at 21:45.

Re: Is Saiyan Blood going to "work"?
I welcome Saiyan Blood. If Sabat can't sing very well in his Vegeta voice that would only add to it. I hope they dub Saiyan Blood and make it the most awesome, cheesy, and just plain stupid song of the year!
