Goku's Japanese Voice Actor

I know that Masako Nozawa voiced Goku, and other members of his family. I was just watching the episode where Goku first goes SSJ and I noticed that the scream was very deep compared to Goku's other SSJ transformations. Did someone else voice the scream or does she just have an amazing range?

If it was someone different, then was that the only time in the whole time of Dragon Ball animation that someone else has provided Goku's voice in Japanese?

I remember hearing that too. Another theory I've heard is they took Ginyu's voice actor and made him scream for that part. Of course I have no sources for these things other then hearsay so take it with a grain of salt.

Yeah, Nozawa's voice has definately been altered in some way in that scene.

That's what Japanese Wikipedia says. It seems like a strange thing to make up just for Wikipedia, so it probably came from somewhere else before that, but I don't know where.

I just did this a minute ago. I took a video off of Youtube, went to the scream, and changed the pitch to 135% in Wavepad Sound Editor. This is what I came up with:

To me it sounds like Nozawa.

The more I thought about it, the scream had the... Hmm... Style for delivery, for lack of better expression of Miss Nozawa. That sort of "Yaaaraaaa!" scream she's known for as Gokuu. That clip just confirmed it.

Meanwhile, I'm fairly up on Hori Hideyuki's roles in other anime (older stuff, admittedly) and that scream did not sound like the sort of thing he would do. Again, it's the scream was shaped. Like Miss Nozawa does the "Yaaaraaa!" thing, by shaping her mouth or manipulating her voice in certain ways. I don't think I've heard Mr. Hori do screams in any way like that.

That definitely sounds like Nozawa to me. I also enjoyed Ryusei Nakao's chipmunk "nani?" in that clip.

Regarding Yu Yu Hakusho, I have all the season sets... but I got them when they were $25 at Best Buy a year and a half ago. Worth it though.

Now I am wondering why they decided to use it, and it seems out of place. Looking back where there any other instances where this occurs? Playing with the pitch, using different VA's, etc. Also, I did not think it was Hori Hideyuki, because I remember how cool his voice sounded when he did his body change attack and it sounded different. I like the dub, that's what I grew up on, but shortly after I gained access to a computer I started watching the Japanese episodes before all the episodes were dubbed. To everyone who prefers the dub, have you ever gotten chills from the powerful voice acting, combined with everything else? I have, but so much more so in the original japanese version. The first time I saw movie 12, I got chills when Goku was powering up to SSJ3, and when Gogeta is formed and owns Janemba. I thought it was so cool! Especially when he glides over like a ghost

I may start another thread, but has anyone had similar experiences watching the english or japanese version, heck whatever language it may be!
