Goten and Trunks were individually capable of SSj3?
In the Dragonball GT episode "SSJ4 FUSION", it is moments before the fusion takes place. The Z warriors are wondering whether the fusion technique works with two SSJ4s. Goten clearly states (no mistakes on my part; my brother was watching and we both clearly heard the plural):
"Why wouldn't it? Trunks and I fused as SSJ 3's!"
Now, as far as the anime and manga goes, neither were seen unfused as SSj3s.
Was this a mistake on FUNimation's or Toei's parts? Or could either one of the boys have had the power to transform, like Gohan could into SSj2, but didn't quite have the strength or pain to reach it individually at will? Remember how much ki SSj3 consumes, and that together the boys had little trouble with exertion [though the fusion time was cut] from this, meaning that they may well have individually achieved the level of SSj2. Gohan managed to go SSj2 even when he hadn't trained all those years, but not until Videl was nearly killed, thus causing the necessary pain. Both boys had lost some family recently (as far as Goten knew Gohan had died and he was the only living member of the Son family) and that could have been a trigger of sorts.
I bet that it was another GT mistake.

I'm pretty sure that's a Funi dub mistake.

Yeah, just seems to be bad wording.

Outlandish disregard for typing properly is subject to being corrected in red by moderators. This is intended to give people a somewhat-snide little "heads-up" that they agreed to these rules and are expected to type properly. Not every little mistake will be corrected (especially those from our foreign, non-native-English-speaking visitors), but if you find yourself subject to these corrections, it may be time to re-evaluate your posting style (a.k.a. "Seriously... you're above the age of ten and live in suburban America; for goodness sake, use a period!").

Stop being a smartarse,
"the" isn't exactly a typo but the 'e' was red.

The red-letters are just there as friendly notes and reminders, that's all. Nothing to get upset about.

Re: Goten and Trunks were individually capable of SSj3?
Being that they make up Gotenks I think they have a general understanding of the transformation. If they were ever pressed to do it when fighting alone they could probably try to use it...but I think the strain would be too much if they didn't train before hand.
