Hahaha... You're right. I'd forgotten about the music. And I didn't notice the disappearing lines because I was too busy reading the subtitles. Lol. I should've checked myself, but I just assumed jjgp1112 new what he was talking about. Guess I'm just too trustful.

I wasn't talking about her acting. Honestly, I can't tell if the acting is good or not because I'm so distracted by the unfitting voice. It's one of the most unpleasant voices I've ever heard; not for Freeza in particular, but just in general.

What was he wrong about? That episode was part of FUNimation's "Season Three", which covers the Frieza arc.

By "season three", people usually mean the original/horrible dub of season three. The re-dub was done in 2005 or so, so it should be much better.

The "re-dub" was only for the previously Ocean dubbed first two seasons.

They re-dubbed some of season three as well. Watch this.

Yeah, but 4th form Frieza wasn't. He was in his first episode or two I think, but after that it was entirely old Season Three Frieza.

Well it's too hard to keep track. FUNi just does things all willy-nilly sometimes. We still never got an official reason as to why Schemmel didn't re-dub his lines.

That's why even with improved acting, the season three redub never got far in improvement, it was stuck with most of the old dub lines with Goku being a stock voice.

6:49. That's probably Linda at her best, and she just doesn't keep up with everyone else in the scene. Her scream is weak as hell too.

See, even a better script doesn't make a lick of difference, she is terrible as Freeza.

Yeah, and the "I, Frieza, was brought to the brink of death..." sounds worse than even Nakao's Kai delivery of that line... :?

Linda was ALWAYS a terrible Fre"i"za. I don't know what some of you are talking about.
A Dragon Ball/Urusei Yatsura crossover would be awesome.
Having Toshio Furukawa balance between Piccolo and Ataru would be hilarious.

Yikes! She's worse than I though! Everyone else was putting in some acting skill, but Young didn't sound right at all. And of course, the voice itself felt very wrong.

That definitely wasn't her best with Freeza. Not sure why she phoned in for the game, but definitely not her A game, or even a C game.

At this point in the dub, how far are we until the Freeza fight begins? I'm still getting used to Kai's faster pace, lol.

Yeah, I'd say Season 2 was her best work, as well as the ONE 4th form episode that she redubbed.

WOW... I can't believe Burst limit is already 2 years old. I forgot how awesome it looked.

anywho I use to prefer her voice over the Japanese version (Don't kill me yet) but the Japanese voice has grown on me.

If you can find a good clip of her Freeza, then I'd like to see it. 'Cause that Burst Limit clip was horrendous.

I would, but there's not a single clip from season 2 on YouTube.

And really, what's the point? You'll probably think that sucks too. We'll just have to once again agree to disagree because this is going nowhere.

Ah I see. I was talking about the acting. I don't mind the voice because they pitched her down from Freeza's first transformation onwards. They let her concentrate on the acting without trying to deepen her voice. If they had her try to deepen her voice it would've detracted from the acting, a man is naturally going to find it easier to deepen a voice than a woman. I also liked the "dual" effect they gave Freeza's third transformation.

That doesn't even come close to her best work. She did much better in the original dub of that scene in the Anime.

I find that FUNimation is terrible in the video games, even worse than the Anime. I always use the Japanese voices but sometimes I would switch over to the dub voices in some of the games and they are terrible, even Linda usually isn't as good as I'd expect her to be in the game cutscenes, though she's OK for the battle cries used when fighting.
MR.Mark wrote:See, even a better script doesn't make a lick of difference, she is terrible as Freeza.
Video games are not good examples to use. Everyone in the Funi dub is normally rubbish in them, even worse than their Anime dubs. It seems Funi's voice actors just don't care about putting effort into video game cutscenes.

The Japanese voices on the other hand are so much better, they actually put effort in the cutscenes and especially the in game battle cries.

I'm sure that Linda would've done a much better job with that line if she had to say it for the Anime dub, but what was wrong with Nakao's Kai delivery of that line?

In Z, he pretty much lost it there and outright snapped. It was very powerful, but in Kai, he said it like any other line, though perhaps he sounded a tad peeved, but it was way under-delivered.
