Any SuperSonic Warriors 2 changes from the Japanese original

Post by mrzisawesome » Tue Aug 03, 2010 12:03 pm

I know the NA version had dubbed voices, no Neko Majin and different box art, but is that the extent of the changes made from Bukuu Togeki? Like, did they put in replacement music like they did in the first SSW?

It has some really bad translations at times ("Beget Sword" instead of "Vegetto Sword"), if that counts as a change.

No replacement music, no. The Story and Mania modes were kept the same, pretty much everything was.
The only exception was the lack of Z, the lead character from Neko Majin Z, who was no included in the American/European releases for the game.

The music was different in the first one?
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Cha-La was the opening to the first game, that was replaced with a song that sounded slightly similar.
For some reason.

Alright thanks to everyone. I guess they actually gave it a good localization(beside Beget Sword), unlike the dumb music they put in the tenkaichi series. Though there was no Neko Majin, I'm guessing its because it came out in NA before Japan, and they added it in that time. Still doesn't explain why the PAL region didn't get in though. For my own opinion, the PAL version is better, as they got the cool box art(sorry the American one looks like fanart one Goku and Broly, plus Kid Boo wasn't even in the game!). Plus they had the awesome Japanese voices.

Well, compared to the original Japanese, no. The Japanese has 1 more character/power-up. So I suppose that one is "better", technically.
But if you're comparing solely to the American release, I do agree. :)

Considering how often us Europeans get shafted with game releases, I like to gloat a lot about the little victories like this one. ;)

As for Z not being in the European release, perhaps they just grabbed the American one since it was already in English and went from there?

We actually get it good when it comes to the Dragon Ball games.
We got Budokai with Japanese voices, and Budokai 3's "Limited Edition" sexy pack with Japanese voices waaaay before the Americans did. We got Super DBZ with Japanese voices too. All of the games which have been on Nintendo systems have also contained the original Japanese voices too.
Hell, our Wii edition of Sparking NEO had more characters than the American version (as did the Japanese version)
We usually get better packaging than our American counterparts too, mostly being the Japanese cover art, a few exceptions that come to mind is our (horrible) Budokai cover art, and Infinite World.

When we don't get these nice little additions, we at least get our games released around the same time as the NTSC games.

...Not rubbing anything in anybody's faces, just sayin'.

Yeah, as far as DB goes, things are great (except for the Budokai 1 subtitles.) With other franchises we're often screwed over, like getting really shitty cover art for Mega Man games, or Square-Enix just not releasing half their stuff for no reason.

You think you have it bad?

I will admit though, Capcom is giving NA great releases like Starforce 3, and Zero Collection(which has the JP ending theme. Finally!) I don't think Europe got these 2, did they?
