Goku was running around and he was fighting. Bulma, ChiChi, Videl, C18 and Maron were standing still doing almost nothing.Rocketman wrote:Ok then, series logic. Dende wasn't strong, and he didn't run out of breath either.
So according to the series logic, the amount of air up there is precisely sufficient to support a human body at rest, but when the workload increases it becomes insufficient.
Re: Is the height of Karin Tower ever given?
Goku was already acclimated to high altitudes from his time on Karin's tower. The women went straight from sea level to the Lookout.
Even going to, say, Denver is very difficult. Even though there's enough air to support life, it's still much less than your body is used to getting. Until you acclimate, even standing still will cause you to hyperventilate and your heart to race as your body detects that you're not getting enough oxygen.

I'm still going with the "magic" theory, but you have a good point. At the very least, their ears should have popped or something. I live in Colorado, out on the plains, and when I went to the mountains for a school activity my ears popped and blood started running out of my nose as we got to higher elevations.Rocketman wrote:Goku was already acclimated to high altitudes from his time on Karin's tower. Oddly enough, Goku's pretty much the ONLY one in the Boo arc who seemed to have his head on straight.Zephyr wrote:You have to remember which arc he did this in....

Being acclimated to Karin's is not the same as being acclimated to Kami's for stronger-than-Piccolo levels of aerobic exercise.Rocketman wrote:Goku was already acclimated to high altitudes from his time on Karin's tower. The women went straight from sea level to the Lookout.

Re: Is the height of Karin Tower ever given?
Something else I want to tackle. I may be wrong about this, since I haven't read this part of the manga in a while, but wasn't Son Goku the first one to reach Karin Tower besides Karin? Didn't they say people had previously tried to reach it by aircraft but failed? Then, in the Cell Arc, Bulma flies much higher than that and reaches Kami's Lookout (when she delivered the Saiyan battle armour to Goku and the others). Either it's a plothole, or Dr. Brief invented some new flying vehicle that could reach further heights.

It may be a matter of Kami or Popo willingly repelling people who try to "cheat" to get there. If someone were to try using a plane or rocket to reach there, they'd just get knocked down. But Bulma flying up there was for something important during a time of crisis. So it might not be a matter of "can or can't," but more like "allowed or disallowed."Piccolo Daimao wrote:Something else I want to tackle. Re: Is the height of Karin Tower ever given?
Bulma also flies up there when there is no Kami.
Re: Is the height of Karin Tower ever given?
1.) They invented new technology that can easily exceed 8,000 meters.
2.) Time of a crisis, Kami wasn't present. It's possible Korin or Mr. Popo could stop it, but under what pretense?

They already had that technology.Perfect wrote:1.) They invented new technology that can easily exceed 8,000 meters.
Re: Is the height of Karin Tower ever given?
You missed my point entirely. Technology eventually upgrades, especially from the times that were explained back in Dragon Ball. Whereas in Z the actual mechanics of the vehicle's internal systems are most likely different, things like that don't remain static. It's the same type of realism we've had in the past decades. We've had cars, where the actual top speed was fairly low. As time went on, things about the technology upgraded, we got faster and better running cars (Minus the infamous AMC Pacer). Through all this we had trial and error, the Kremlin car if a prime example of this, we see it often used by Comic Book Guy in the Simpsons.Rocketman wrote:They already had that technology.Perfect wrote:1.) It's the same relapsing principle that's implied when I said they "invented new technology", hence why they were able to exceed 8,000 meters.

They already had space travel, or Yajirobe wouldn't have known what a rocket was to suggest he could steal one.

We also have rockets in real life don't we? But you don't see flying cars available for the public and every day consumer, do you?
I think the point I'm trying to get across here explains itself (Provided you can put the obvious pieces together).

Re: Is the height of Karin Tower ever given?
So you're saying someone could have reached Kami's the cheating way if they'd been rich enough to own a rocket?
Another theory I've heard before is that Kami's only became reachable when Nyoi'bo was used to link it to Karin's Tower.

Bulma's not an 'every day consumer'; her company designs and builds space rockets.Perfect wrote:*Facepalm*Rocketman wrote:They already had space travel, or Yajirobe wouldn't have known what a rocket was to suggest he could steal one.
