Why didn't Radditz tell Piccolo?

This has been bothering me since I've been watching DB Kai. Why didn't Radditz tell Piccolo he was a Namekian? Vegeta and Nappa seemed to know what one was. I'm guessing this was a decision by Toriyama not to reveal it until later?

Maybe because Piccolo wearing a turban and a cape, So Raditz couldn't recognize him.

Probably because he had no reason to tell him. He doesn't know if Piccolo knows he's a Namek, nor should he care if he did know. Added to all this, just because Vegeta and Nappa know what Nameks look like doesn't mean Radditz does.

Well, Raditz does see Piccolo without his turban and armor when he and Goku try to fight him, so it's not like he wouldn't have been able to see the characteristic traits. It could be that Raditz didn't know what a Namekian looked like (though this doesn't seem all that plausible given that Vegeta and Nappa did know) or that as far as Raditz was concerned, his race didn't matter at all. He wasn't there searching for the Dragonballs, so his interest in Piccolo would have been little more than as a fighter with a lower battle power than he has opposing him.

The anime (at least the dub) had Raditz subtly suggest that Piccolo wasn't from Earth by making a comment that he "must not be from around here", after reading his battle power of 322.

For the record, Toriyama says in Daizenshuu 4 that he thought up the idea of Piccolo being an alien when God was introduced to the story, so it's not simply a case of Toriyama having not planned that far ahead.

Yeah, that's not in the Japanese anime.

There's 3 possibilities why Radizt didn't said that Piccolo was a Namekian!
1.He thinks Piccolo already knew it, So he doesn't bother to say it!
2.He didn't know what's a Namekian looks like!
3.He didn't even know that Namekian exits!

It's not the same. If he knew Piccolo was unaware, he still wouldn't bother to tell him because doing so would serve no purpose and because he has no motivation to give Piccolo that information. It's not like Nappa and Vegeta were telling him; Piccolo just overheard what they were talking about.

Vegeta and Nappa didn't figure out he was a Namekian until after they landed on Earth and actually saw him. Vegeta probably didn't even know what they looked like and just put two and two together when he learned about the Dragon Balls.

Maybe Vegeta and Nappa knew because of that their powerlevel was high enough to defeat Nameks easily, and Radditz didn't since he would be too weak to help around.
Like in any organisation, the members get to know info of any job they are capable of, and only the higher-ups know of big picture stuff.
We have to remember that the Nameks were seen as a race with remarkably high powerlevels.

Kami was introduced after Goku beat the original Piccolo. It bothers me that Radditz wouldnt bother to wonder why a Namekian would be on earth. But he probably didnt care.

That brings me to wonder, how well known were the Dragon Balls out side of Namek? I'm guessing not outside Kaio-sama, Kami and the other deities.

Vegeta commented that he had heard of the legend of the Namekian Dragonballs before, but never gave it much thought until arriving on Earth and noticing Piccolo was a Namekian. Combining the existence of the Dragonballs on Earth, Piccolo being a Namekian, and Goku's resurrection, he surmised that the legend had to be true, which is why he made the decision to have Nappa just kill Piccolo and the others before Goku arrived.

So even outside of the Namekians their existence was known, but mainly just passed off as a legend.

Maybe Raditz didn't know what Namekians looked like. Vegeta and Nappa might've discovered them along the way when they were by themselves before or during the time Raditz came to Earth looking for Goku.
