Dragon Ball pops up at street festival in Barcelona
Man, I haven't even been on this board in like three years, but I thought the Internet would be interested in seeing this. There's an annual week-long neighborhood festival in the Gracia area of Barcelona where various streets decorate themselves and see who does the best job. I understand it's actually a contest but I have no idea who actually decides which street is the winner. Anyway last night I was just walking around innocently trying to get drunk on the insanely cheap booze when I stumbled upon a Dragon Ball-themed street (Carrer del Progrés, in case anybody happens to be in Barcelona at some point before the end of the week and wants to see it). Had no idea this was there, just came around a corner and saw a big Muten Roshi standing on the back of Umigame, very odd. No idea who on the street came up with this idea or how they sold the rest of the street on it, I mean you guys know as much as I do about this now. But anyway, here are some random pics I snapped this afternoon. It gets really crowded and busy at night, it's pretty dead during the afternoon because nothing is really going on yet, so it's a lot easier to actually get shots of the decorations and stuff. Apologies for the particularly large pics, frankly I'm just way too lazy to do anything about it.
The entrance
The dragon runs almost all the way down the street.
Sorry this one came out a bit blurry; also since it's the middle of the day no one has come through yet to tape up the corner of the fallen poster on the side.
Saw these girls doing Kamehameha poses for pics and started cracking up.
Basically every street has a stage or something where there's live music or karaoke or something. Seems like an appropriate spot for the Tenkaichi Budokai announcer to hang out.
You can see there are posters like the Piccolo Daimao one lining the whole street.
This is the sight that greeted me last night at the back entrance.
I mentioned before that this is only a single street in a greater festival, so I thought it might help to provide a little bit of context; here are just a couple of pics of other streets so you can see how truly unexpected it was to suddenly stumble on Dragon Ball here.
This one had a screen up in the middle of the street last night where they were projecting movies.
This is the cross street intersecting the Dragon Ball street, a very downer display about the state of the world; here they're lamenting the price (preu) of oil (petroli), both in money terms and environmental impact, with pictures of burning euro signs and burning crowns (these are all over the street, but you can only see a couple here) and it's not much cheerier elsewhere on the street. Not the most fun street at the festival.
The entrance to a UFO-themed street
Anyway that's pretty much all the pics I took (well, I took a lot more of the displays on other streets, but they aren't particularly relevant to the board here). So there you go, random huge Dragon Ball sighting on the streets of Barcelona.

Wow, that's pretty neat. I love the drawing of Goku bursting through Piccolo.
Kanzenshuu: Is that place still around?

Awesome!
A Dragon Ball/Urusei Yatsura crossover would be awesome.
Having Toshio Furukawa balance between Piccolo and Ataru would be hilarious.

Wow that's an intimidating Shenlong.
Cool to see Spain still has some Dragonball love.

That's just awesome. The Kame House reminds me of an outhouse.

I would have gotten in SO much trouble there. I'd have been stuffing those in my shirt for sure.

Merely the fact it has Tenkaichi Budokai Announcer there makes it awesome.

I'm in Spain too, in Canary Islands to be exact. I saw this on the news, i mean about the festival, and they showed a superheroes themed street, with Spiderman, Superman, Wolverine, and many more.
Of course, me being a DB fan my thoughts went somewhat like this: -"... thats cool....I wonder if there is a Dragon Ball one"
So you can imagine how hard I just laughed when I found this.
Awesome!

Yes, Goku visited me once. He turned to me while I was still speechless, and said, "You've drank too much"...

I thought I'd wandered around the whole festival, but I definitely didn't see that superhero street. Probably gonna go back up there tonight anyway so maybe I'll run into it this time.

That is awesome on so many levels. The amount of planning and work that went into this is incredible.

That is amazing...if I were a kid I'd be scared the freak out by that Shen Long, though.
