I, just today, finished my DBZ set. Having gotten seasons 5-9 online. So there is, to note, a long time difference since the last time I got another of these season sets. (at a guess, nearly two years*)
So I stacked them all on the shelf, and noticed the colour of the spine for Season 2 to be off. I noticed this when I originally bought the set as well, but figured it might be Funi being so stupid that they can't even keep the colour right, or perhaps that it was "meant" to look like that.
After some Youtube viewing of other people's sets (or indeed viewing other posters collections on this forum) it's evident theres a problem with mine. Inside, there is not a Funimation advert card/paper thing showing future releases etc (unlike most of the other sets I have, have nothing in 1 and 3, might have thrown them away) but instead a advert by some site called bcieclipse.com (theres mainly a lot of he-man adverts inside, the site itself seems defunct)
Again, didn't think about this being wrong at all at the time. It was sealed like any other as much as memory serves, checked all the discs before posting (correct features, marathon mode, japan/english etc), booklet is fine full colour, it all works. Slip box looks the same as all the others, discs have the correct goku image, the only giveaways that I can now see are the spine (that makes out the dragonball z image with all the sets) and the advert inside not being from Funi.
The item was bought on ebay (I'm from the UK)
Is it fake, then? Or just a small supply that got printed a slightly wrong colour? Has there been any report on this kind of thing? (a quick search on the forum brought me nothing.
Figured I'd ask if it's been seen before rather then post pictures from the get-go and being told "yeah, known issue". I'll post pictures if needed.
Cheers for any help. Its only a small niggle since everything works, but would be nice to know.
*The original intention was to simply stop at Frieza, but seeing as how affordable, and the slight possibility that Funi may never release "original" DBZ with the original US broadcast music again be it due to the Dragon Box being considered the end all be all and future sets/releases probably concentrating on Kai, not to mention the reputation of the orange bricks in general, I figured I should grab "my" childhood version of Z (or at least what remains of it, changed voices, cropped-o-vision and all) while it's still around.
EDIT: Boo hiss at Frieza being auto-corrected to Japanese name.
