What Is My Destiny: DB - Confusion! (And Italian Dub Talk)

Hey there! I've had a few questions about the Italian version of DragonBall Z. Maybe someone here could help me out.

So, I went to Italy sometime in the early 00's to visit family. During my stay I noticed "DragonBall Z" was on in the afternoons. But it wasn't called "DragonBall Z" it was "What Is My Destiny: DragonBall".



So it was my understanding that DB and DBZ was\is called "DragonBall" since the original series was also just called "DragonBall" but without the destiny tag line. But then I recently started looking for the Italian DVD's and apparently they all have the "DragonBall Z" name.



So whats up with that? Do the DVD's have the "What Is My Destiny" opening song? Or is it some Italian version of "Cha-La Head Cha-La"? To add to my confusion, I eventually came across some Italian merchandise that uses the "DragonBall Z" logo! So at this point I don't know what to think! My theory is that at first DBZ was actually called "What Is My Destiny: DragonBall" in Italy, but as it got more popular and people started importing merchandise from Japan, everyone just knew it as "DragonBall Z" and in turn the companies putting it out on DVD just ended up calling it "DragonBall Z"....? Is this what happened?

The Italian adaptation transmitted from the Mediaset on Italy One gave to the series the title it “What's my destiny Dragon Ball”, and came sent in wave for before the time in 2000, with successive annual retorts. Anyhow, the name in Italy is turned now in the original Dragon Ball Z, except in the opening title. In DVD's or other merchandise the logo that appears is Dragon Ball Z.

The first Italian DVD release (with the old crappy Italian TV-master as source) got the Japanese OP. "What Is My Destiny" is a bonus feature on the DVDs.

The newer (FAR BETTER) DVD release (your picture posted above) got DragonBox source material and so (again) the Japanese OP. If I remember correctly "What Is My Destiny" isn't even a bonus on this DVDs.

Personally, I like the Italian intro to the original Dragon Ball more than their intro for Z, but maybe it's just me.

Yeah, in Italy the songs used for anime/cartoons are all remade in a techno-way.
The Italian channel ''Italia Uno'' also made an own-new opening, a kind of remix of all the three opening song (Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT) for the so-called ''Dragon Ball - La Saga'' or also ''Dragon Ball - Le Grandi Battaglie'' (a ''new'' series made by Italia Uno that shows all the Dragon Ball Movie cut in episodes of about 25' minutes, like a regular episode).
