The irony is, even if they used the original music, there would still be a split. There would still be original music fans, and Kai fans who each have a preference. As long as there are any differences in any of the mediums that DB enjoys, there will be divisions in the fanbase, to some degree.GS7X7 wrote:Ironically, Funimation always said that people would fuss about the original music if they put it back in so because of that they should never do that.
However, the ONLY reason fans are fussing about it now is because they spent countless years replacing all the music with cheap techno and getting them to associate it with DBZ instead of the original stuff!
Music complaints aren't that big a problem w/ DBZ in most other countries that didn't have the "clever" of idea of replacing all the music so they could charge royalties for every second the new music is heard.
If they'd just have used the original music all along there wouldn't be any division like they created. But I'm sure they'll probably use complaints about the original music as, "see, we were right all along."
Dragonball Kai (FUNimation English) Dub: General Discussion
Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
RIDER KIIIIIIICK!
Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
Oh, I meant the original DBZ score in the -first- dub of DBZ they did.
Jesus Christ, how many English dubs does DBZ have at this point? Ocean original, funi redo of seasons 1-2, funi 3+, ocean 3+. Not to mention that Movies 1-3 have two different dubs too.... there really is no single straight and coherent dub that goes from start to finish of DBZ or maintains much real continuity. (but at least Kai's doing a nice job of that if you count it as part of DBZ)

Just thought. With Cell to be played by Travis Willingham, think this could lead to bad jokes about Cell wanting to see Gohan in a miniskirt, or One Piece jokes?

Oh god... I just imagined the Gohan vs. Cell fight with that "Brother, my brother" song from the dub of the first Pokémon movie.Super Sonic wrote:Just thought. Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
The miniskirt jokes sort of pale in comparison to the actual thing. I would think there's less to catch on to with a Dragon Ball version of the miniskirt line, too.

Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
TanookiKuribo posted this on Twitter. It's the promo for the Invader Ball Weekends.
A marathon of Invader Zim on Saturday, and then a marathon of Z Kai on Sunday.
It's pretty awesome to see Dragon Ball mixed in with other great cartoons. Legit. I really love how Nicktoons is pushing the show. It's the first link on their website. Marathons all the damn time; they run the show 42 times a week! It doesn't get the anime treatment (midnight death hours, once a week). It gets the primetime "this-show-is-the-shit" treatment. Dragon Ball Z Kai couldn'ta got a better channel on extended cable.

Yeah, seriously.
Nicktoons is by far one of my favorite channels now.
Don't all the reruns make you think CN back in the day? (Kinda funny how we're currently "Stuck" on Namek
)
I kinda would love to see a block sometime once Power Rangers gets on the channel with DBZ Kai, Avatar, TMNT, and PR.

I wish Travis was cast as Majin Buu for Kai. Then he could say in a squeaky, helium-ridden voice "I love dogs!"Super Sonic wrote:Just thought. With Cell to be played by Travis Willingham, think this could lead to bad jokes about Cell wanting to see Gohan in a miniskirt, or One Piece jokes?
Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
Does anyone have a youtube upload link to the new comic style next episode previews for DBZ Kai on CW4kids? If not then can someone who has seen it let me know whether the preview is narrated by the narrator or in character by Goku & others as it was in the Nicktoons broadcast?

It is narrated by the characters who are talking in the word bubble i.e. Raditz is talking in the character bubble so he is speaking on the screen.RazorX wrote:Does anyone have a youtube upload link to the new comic style next episode previews for DBZ Kai on CW4kids? I can picture that, but I'm a bit surprised it hasn't been uploaded anywhere. (That I searched)

Seems Schemmel has yet to record #47.
I don't suspect I'll like the finished product...

As long as his "I felt my original performance was good" bullcrap has been thrown out the window, we might actually get a far superior performance, at least compared to Z's original Super Saiyan dub scene.JulieYBM wrote:http://twitter.com/Solarmax20/status/22752273483

I would hope he doesn't try to emulate his old performance from back in 1999. Pray, I should say. Lord, that was horrible.Soul wrote:As long as his "I felt my original performance was good" bullcrap has been thrown out the window, we might actually get a far superior performance, at least compared to Z's original Super Saiyan dub scene.JulieYBM wrote:http://twitter.com/Solarmax20/status/22752273483

Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
I actually thought it was post-SSJ transformation was when he actually started to sound tolerable. During that episode where they decided to do obnoxiously long flashbacks, he re-recorded some of the pre-SSJ stuff and it sounded WAYYYY better than it did in the actual episodes
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

That contradicts what Kirbopher said a few weeks ago in this thread. He said that they finished the Freeza saga.JulieYBM wrote:I would hope he doesn't try to emulate his old performance from back in 1999. Pray, I should say. Maybe everyone in house from Funimation did, but they have to fly Sean out there from New York, so he probably records on a seperate schedule.DB_Fan1991 wrote:

Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
I don't know if this has been posted yet, but Nicktoons has posted clips of episode 36 on their website.

Sabat's Piccolo sounds pretty awesome in the second clip. He totally destroys his season 3 version of this scene!
