Has to be the episode where Trunks kills King Cold. What makes it worse, is arguably the best animated episode of the series was right before it (it ends with Trunks slicing Freeza in half). As the next episode begins, we're greeted with the same scene that ended the last episode, but with 1/10'th the budget

No, that isn't really arguable; It wasn't. Episode 279, for instance, had superb animation.

I think almost every important episodes are well animated and they look amazing on Kai and the Season Sets because they don't have grains!

It's that kind of mindset that has ruined many DVD and Blu-Ray releases, even outside of Dragon Ball Z, with needless, destructive DVNR which makes film look incredibly artificial. It doesn't make things smooth, it makes them blurry (unless it's done very lightly, which even then it's still a downgrade, and you can still see the blurred grain in the background, which just looks unnatural), and it damages line art if done to the point of completely removing grain.

On live action films, it makes people's skin look overly, unnaturally smooth, and it takes out any tiny details that would be there otherwise, just for the sake of having a "perfect, new looking smooth picture". The point of remastering isn't to make things look like they were made today, they were made to restore film to their purest, original forms, which includes grain, especially on smaller film stock such as 16mm film that Dragon Ball is on. Grain is part of the picture, in fact, in a way, grain is the picture, as film is made up of those tiny particles which is, in fact, grain. Removing that is only destructive, even if you do it in small amounts like Kai and the Dragon Ball season sets. They look okay, but the Dragon Boxes still look much sharper and more detailed.

You can even find articles on the internet, and videos on YouTube speaking out against, and explaining the destructive nature of DVNR, or commonly also referred to as simply "DNR". Believe it or not, Dragon Ball Z is not the first and only show to undergo such a travesty of a treatment for DVD and even Blu-Ray releases. People in such fandoms are just as angry about their releases as we were with the Z orange bricks. It's even sadder that some of those fandoms may never get a properly remastered, or even presented release for a long time, if ever.

I just don't like grains. I prefer Dragon Ball Kai's video quality than Dragon Ball Z's. I don't know why but it's probably because I viewed my Dragon Box on an 1080p HDTV but regardless, I still don't like grains, period!

Yeah, the episode that second cap is from was done by Last House, who's art was terrible by that point, possibly the worst at the time (they also did the Super Saiyan Goku that's circulating through this thread). Worse than Studio Live (triangle crap, Lupin Vegeta), which had become pretty decent by that point I feel.

I know this wasn't in the TV series but, the second Coola movie has some of the shittiest animation, well to be fair it's mostly during the early fight scenes.

Goku looks really badly drawn.

I noticed bad animation during the Z/GT series but did not ever stop to see it because I couldn't care for it. One Piece has weird animation too.

Dragon Ball GT itself is pretty fugly but this one seals the deal. If you fuck up Perfect form Cell's design then there's something wrong.
